A great perspective regarding the use of AI. As we imagine its potential, we should ensure we do not miss novel ideas that would have emerged by taking the more difficult route.

There are multiple takeaways from this interview:

On the one hand, it seems likely (perhaps inevitable?) AI will transform how we work and go about our lives. As such, smart regulation should be explored.

On the other hand, to suggest AI will be more important to humanity than fire generates concern about the builder's mindset. Also, the continued focus on replacing person-to-person interaction with machine-augmented interaction seems like a path toward increasing isolation than human connection. Would the Zoom Happy Hours or Birthday Parties so common during the pandemic be much improved if the images were 3D instead of 2D?
