Composed of two layers of puff pastry with frangipane in between, it is tradition in France to enjoy this cake on January 6th, and even throughout the month, in celebrating Epiphany, a Christian holiday. Within each cake, there is a hidden trinket called a “fève” or “bean” baked into it. The person who gets the slice with the trinket becomes the “king” or “queen” for the day and gets to wear the crown you see in the photo! This is a beautiful invitation to gather both adults and children and enjoy a great piece of cake with some added fun!
