'Mathis Family Matters' Star Greg Mathis Jr. Marries Elliott Cooper in Intimate Family Wedding in Mexico! (Exclusive) Greg Mathis Jr. married longtime partner Elliott Cooper in an intimate family wedding at the Waldorf Astoria in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on Oct. 21. The grooms' fathers, Judge Greg Mathis Sr. and Sergeant Calvin Cooper, officiated the ceremony, which was attended by just 15 people.

Q: Can you put information on the back of your wedding invitations?
A: It’s better to include details that don’t fit on your wedding invitation on a separate details card rather than on the back of the invitation. You don’t want guests to miss an important piece of information because they didn’t turn over the invitation. It’s also possible to overcrowd your invitations with too many details (on the front or back), and that can take away from your stationery’s beautiful design. Insert cards are the perfect solution.

How to Hand Cancel Mail

What does it mean to “hand cancel mail”?
When it comes to wedding invitations, hand-canceling is a term you’ll see thrown around. Wedding invitations, being bulky, and expensive, usually require a little extra care. One way to ensure your invitations are delivered in one piece is by having them hand-canceled at the post office.

What does “hand cancel” mean?
Most post offices use machines to sort mail and mark each stamp so that they can’t be re-used. But when it comes to irregular or delicate items, you may want your stamps to be marked by hand (with a special stamp provided by USPS) rather than going through the sorting machine.

How do I hand cancel mail?
Turns out it’s a lot easier than you’d think. It simply requires you going into the post office and asking a post office attendant to hand canceled your invitations.

Why should you hand cancel wedding invitations?
Mail sorting machines can rip, tear, smudge or stain oddly-sized or delicate pieces of mail. Things like large wedding invitations and wax seals are more likely to be ripped or torn, so it’s recommended that you hand-cancel the postage on these items. By using a hand-stamp, you’re essentially ensuring that your invitations arrive unblemished and in one piece.

Who hand cancels envelopes?
An employee at your local post office should be able to hand cancel mail for you. But since most post offices are understaffed (and overworked!), they might ask you to do the hand-canceling while they oversee the process. In that case, they’ll give you a stamp and let you go to town while they help other customers, then come back to verify your work before placing your invitations in the outgoing mail.

Happy National Donut Day ... ​​​​​​​​​Did you know, National Donut Day celebrated in the United States and in some other countries, is on the first Friday of June of each year. Created by The Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938 to honor those of their members who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. You can learn something everyday! ​​​​​​​​​

A mongram is when you place initials together. Branding an event with a monogram can elevate the ocassion. These can be placed on the invitations, welcome bags, programs, es**rt charts, menus, floor wraps, and/or favor tags.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Did you know the top destination wedding months are May, June, August, November and December? Adding elements of the location to the wedding stationery suite can bring excitment and anticapation. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

On this day, 22 years ago FINGERS IN INK celebrated its grand opening! Looking back at this picture, I realize how green I was to the industry. I often say, the Lord takes care of babies and fools! I was so foolish to jump into an industry I knew nothing about, feet first. But I had passion, determination, and a willingness to learn and work smart. I also had a mother and grandmother, praying for my success. My late grandmother was always one of my biggest cheerleaders. She wanted nothing more than to see my success and for me to be recognized for my creativity. I think she would be proud. 😊 ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​I often have people ask what’s my secret to success. I tell them practical practices … here are just a few:
• be kind
• give people the same grace that you would want given to you.
• know your numbers
• practice your skill(s)
• educate yourself
• if you are the smartest person in your circle, you need a new circle
• be kind … did I say that already! (Yes, be KIND!)
• pray daily
• it's okay to leave money on the table
• self-care is a THING!

These things might seem simple, but when you master them, they will take you so far! Cheers to 22 years! Thank you to my vendor partners and clients that allow me to make magic and live my dream! It’s not always easy but I love 💕 every opportunity to work with people during the most amazing time of their lives.

A: Es**rt cards are small cards that feature the guest’s name and their table number. ​They are displayed at the entrance of the reception venue, either in alphabetical order or grouped by table, making it easy for guests to find their seating assignment.
Place cards, specify the exact seat a guest is assigned to. Usually indicating the guest's meal preference. (if that was an option for catering.)

Be on notice ... The USPS filed notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission of mailing services price changes to take effect July 14, 2024. The new rates include a 5-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp from 68 cents to 73 cents. Letters (1 oz.)​​​​​​​​​As the name suggests, Forever Stamps can be used to mail a one-ounce letter regardless of when the stamps are purchased or used and no matter how prices may change in the future. Buy your Forever Stamps now if you have an upcoming special event or wedding that requires postage.

​​​​​​​​​Q: Are signature drink menus necessary for an event or wedding? ​​​​​​​​​
A: Signature Drink signs aren't necessary but they sure add a nice touch to the bar. Bar menus also feature the ingredients of the drinks, so guests can determine if it's their preference. Mocktails are perfect for guests that want to have something a bit special that is non-alcoholic.
