One of the most interesting fungi in the world is the “Zombie Fungus”. It takes over the mind of an insect, causing it to climb up a branch and cling to the underside of a leaf before mummification. Once locked in place, the mushroom-like fruiting body of the cordyceps sprouts from the insect and eventually releases its spores. 😳🌿🐜🍄👀

Still one of my favorite foraging shots! Taken 9 years ago, I was harvesting Mullein flowers to make a medicinal infused ear ache oil. .
Mullein offers many therapeutic benefits, such as being anti inflammatory, anti microbial, and aiding in lymphatic drainage..
Being one with the land, knowing your plant allies and working with your hands to concoct healing medicines was something I was created to partake in and share with the world. .
The demands of modern day life can creep up on me so I have to remind myself where my roots are planted. I hope to be able to share my knowledge for decades to come, especially in this time where I believe we need to get back to the basics, and that starts with the land we walk on.
