2024 art classes have officially begun with my five-week abstract painting class at . Today, we played and we’re constrained to using just black and white. It’s a great way to see value in action and develop compositions. Great job, everyone!
Happy New Year!
I’m so honored to have been able to reach so many wonderful artists this year. From Northern Virginia to New Orleans to the Hudson River Valley, this year I was so fortunate to meet so many people and nurture their learning experiences. I truly love teaching and sharing what I know and so appreciate all those who traveled near and far to join me on this adventure we call art making. Here’s to you and to even more explorations in 2024! Cheers!
Family and holidays. Always a good mix.
Interesting things popping up in the studio…
Barbie Dream House, 12” x 12”, acrylic on wood panel, $200. Comments welcome!
Not all experiments go to plan, but I have ideas for this one, so this is just the first step of a multi-step painting process… We shall see where this ends up…
Reading has a way of increasing one’s creativity. Do it often… First painting after Christmas break: Walking the Fallow Field, 6.25” x 12”, acrylic on wood panel, $250. I always seem to dislike cold weather, but there’s something about bundling up and being outside. I remember growing up in rural Oklahoma and walking the wet and chilly fields, but feeling the hope of spring nonetheless. The rich smell of the the earth and the promise of life just in the offing. Frozen feet and damp nose, but exhilaration in the wind on my face. Comments welcome.
Merry Christmas!

The other day, I dropped off my work at the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington and I couldn’t resist taking a selfie with Libby. Then, of course, I forgot to post it.
