G&C is actively seeking qualified professionals to join our experienced engineering and design team.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our Former President and Chief Executive of Gibbs & Cox, Christopher Deegan’s passing. Chris joined Gibbs & Cox as the Vice President of Engineering in 2013 after an outstanding career as a Navy civilian program manager and Senior Executive Service leader. Chris led Gibbs & Cox through a transformative period of growth and diversification culminating with our acquisition by Leidos. He was a great leader, friend, and mentor to everyone he worked with.
G&C's Arlington and DC offices participated in a Corporate Fun Run 5K last night in Arlington, VA. Congratulations to all the team members that came out and participated in a fun race!
Late last month, Gibbs & Cox was honored to be a part of the commissioning of the U.S. Navy’s newest littoral combat ship, the USS MINNEAPOLIS–SAINT PAUL (LCS 21) in Duluth, Minnesota. As the design agent for the Lockheed Martin team FREEDOM class variant, Gibbs & Cox has supported every phase of the LCS Class FREEDOM variant ships for almost 20 years, from early phase concept through in-service support, and we are proud to see her join the fast, agile, and mission focused fleet as she begins her service with the U.S. Navy.

DLBA-designed M/Y VALYRA stole attention at this year’s Palm Beach International Boat Show! Even though it’s almost been a decade since she was launched, we are exceedingly proud of the workmanship and performance of this carbon-fiber build, which is easily capable of 50 knots.
Blast from the past: Pushing the envelope with 26m Valyra PBIBS was full of surprises – and the iconic 26m Valyra was one of them. Onboard the lightning-fast custom built yacht by Hodgdon.
This Month’s employee spotlight is Matt Lieb!

While not engineering, Matt enjoys spending time outdoors, hanging out with friends, and exploring Washington DC.
We are thrilled to have Matt on our team!
Over the last two years, we have had to learn to cope and adjust to the various obstacles thrown our way. For many, this meant turning our homes into offices. During this period, technology has helped to keep us connected and allowed for virtual collaboration. While far from perfect, this type of engagement has unlocked new potential for how we conduct business. The last two years have looked a little different for operators on the oceans, and they have also experienced interesting new developments in how they work. Offshore oil and gas (O&G), commercial shipping, fishing, and even naval circles struggled with workforce shortages and the availability of trained crew. Finding healthy and qualified personnel became paramount to business continuity efforts, and operators have turned to new sources to fill these gaps. Follow the link to learn more about how unmanned vessels and normally unattended facilities could prove to be the best defense against future labor shortages.
