Although 1 in 16 Americans are diagnosed with lung cancer within their lifetime, an early diagnosis can come with a hopeful prognosis. Finding the disease early can result in more effective treatment and greater chances of recovery. For this reason, routine screening — that is, testing for lung cancer despite not having symptoms or a history of it — is an important component of regular health care. Mammograms are one of the best ways to detect cancer early, yet mammography’s reputation might have some patients asking questions like, “Are mammograms dangerous?”, “Are mammograms safe?”, and “Do mammograms cause cancer?” These mammogram myths exist to instill fear in people. That fear is dangerous since it could result in people avoiding a routine health screening that can be the difference between catching and stopping the spread of cancer and undergoing months of exhausting cancer treatments.

Have you ever wondered what happens to old MRI machines that can't be used anymore? Well, they have to be removed, of course! Take a look at the careful process of removing an old MRI machine to make room for new equipment...while the MRI may seem huge in an exam room, it doesn't seem *quite* so big once it's removed!

Have you heard of a Hoyer lift? It's a device that is commonly used in healthcare settings to help move patients who have difficulty moving on their own. The lift uses a sling and a hydraulic system to gently and safely lift patients from one surface to another, such as from a bed to a wheelchair.

While the idea of being lifted by a machine may seem scary or uncomfortable, it's important to know that Hoyer lifts are designed to be safe and comfortable for patients. In fact, they can be a great help for patients who have mobility issues, as they can make transfers easier and reduce the risk of falls or injury.

If you or a loved one ever needs to use a Hoyer lift, there's no need to be nervous or scared. Healthcare professionals are trained to use the lift safely and will take all necessary precautions to ensure that you are comfortable and secure. Just remember that the lift is there to help you and make your life easier, and trust in the expertise of your healthcare team.

One of our incredible centers has what they call a "Kudos Board" where employees can write "kudos" to their fellow coworkers, a simple thank you, good job or just recognizing when an employee has done something that deserves a shoutout. All employees across all our centers have access to a digital version of this called "Bucketlist" but this center actually had the kudos board before Bucketlist was even rolled out! They decided to keep it going, as it became such a wonderful part of their culture. We love to see employees recognizing each other on a job well done!

Did you know that all of our centers offer the option to wear headphones during MRI scans? This can truly make a world of difference, here's why:

1️⃣ Comfort and Relaxation: Wearing headphones during the MRI allows patients to escape the noise and feel more at ease.

2️⃣ Drowning Out the Noise: We know that MRI machines can be noisy but with headphones on, you can listen to your favorite music instead!

3️⃣ Reducing Anxiety: Some people may feel anxious or claustrophobic during an MRI scan. Wearing headphones and enjoying some soothing tunes can help take your mind off any anxious thoughts and make the experience more manageable.

4️⃣ Enhanced Focus: If you need to remain still during the MRI, wearing headphones can help you concentrate on your audio content. It's like having your own private concert to keep your mind engaged.

So, next time you're getting an MRI, don't forget to ask about wearing headphones! Let's make our medical experiences as pleasant as possible! If you've tried wearing headphones during an MRI, share your thoughts in the comments below! 🗣️💬
