We invest in all aspects of community development. The farmer pictured, feeding his fish, received a microloan from a program REACH helped establish! He has utilized his loan on his farmland, which includes aquaculture and other sustainable agriculture practices.

YOU have the power to change a life! Sponsoring a student with REACH for Uganda gives a child a chance at a better life. Where we work, less than 1% of adults have completed college. REACH is changing that narrative - we’ve had over 360 of our students graduate from college. Help a student defy the odds by sponsoring through REACH! Visit www.reachforuganda.org to learn more.

Why invest in the Arlington Secondary and Vocational School?

Investment in the ASVS is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for those who want to have a major impact on the future leaders and direction of Uganda. As one of the youngest and most rapidly expanding economies in the world, Uganda’s young people are its greatest resource!

Beyond providing quality secondary and vocational education, the ASVS will be a permanent source of employment for the region’s workforce, and thus serve as a much-needed economic stimulus.

Why sponsor a student in Uganda through REACH?

Sponsoring a student not only grants them access to quality education, it gives them opportunities they wouldn’t have access to otherwise. Our student sponsors usually begin with a young student at the beginning of primary school, and most support the same student all the way through their university graduation. This is an incredibly rewarding process and an easy investment to help secure the future of a Ugandan child in need.

To explore sponsorship options, visit www.reachforuganda.org/donate/sponsorship or email [email protected]!

Our primary students enjoy sports and other activities whenever possible! We are able to provide opportunities for sports like volleyball, and softball (in addition to soccer being popular among kids already) thanks to passion projects driven by our teen volunteers, who often bring equipment with them and teach our students new sports.

So why are we building the Arlington Secondary and Vocational School?

In the photo above, you can see some of our secondary students in their various uniforms for their respective schools. Currently, we have to send our primary graduates to secondary schools across the country because of the lack of quality secondary schools in the region.

Through the ASVS, we’ll be able to continue educating these students at a school of international standard until they head off to college! We’re committed to sparking transformation through education in rural eastern Uganda.

To support our quest to uplift the underserved communities, click the link in our bio pr visit www.reachforuganda.org to donate to our secondary school construction fund!

Are you up for a challenge?

We have an exciting FUND MATCHING CHALLENGE for you! A core group of generous donors has provided up to $145,000 in matching funds to help us complete clean water infrastructure at our schools!

As we build our Arlington Secondary and Vocational School and improve our current schools, we’re including clean water infrastructure that will benefit our student population in a crucial way - giving them clean water. Reliable access to clean water - the United Nations’ 6th Sustainable Development Goal - is important for maintaining our students’ health, which is a central part of our mission. Help us max out this exciting matching challenge! Donate at https://reachforuganda.reachapp.co/campaigns/project-clean-water-for-our-schools to transform lives!

Have you heard? We’re expanding!

In August 2023, we broke ground on our biggest project yet - building the Arlington Secondary and Vocational School. When our primary students graduate P7, they’ll be able to continue with REACH’s high-quality and holistic approach to education. Bringing this kind of higher education to the villages we work in will provide many valuable opportunities for students and the community.

We need your help to finish this project! If you’d like to donate to our secondary school construction fund, head to the link in our bio!

More girls in school means more women in the workforce! So many of our female students have graduated and pursue meaningful, successful careers in Uganda. There are nurses, midwives, administrators, government officials, engineers, lawyers, teachers, scientists, and more.

Several of our graduates have come back to work for the organization in Uganda, directly serving the communities they came from.

In remote areas with limited access to healthcare, people often succumb to preventable diseases and suffer resulting health complications - which are completely avoidable.

One of the most at-risk populations in rural areas are expectant mothers. Fortunately, our Beatrice Tierney Health Clinics are able to provide essential prenatal, maternity, and postpartum care. Our clinic in Matuwa was recently expanded to include a maternity ward that has the capacity to provide inpatient care. This is a life-saving addition to our capability to care for the community!

Young women also have access to resources to help prevent teen pregnancy - that way more girls can stay in school.

We’re less than a year out from the grand opening of the Arlington Secondary and Vocational School! By February 15th, 2025, we will cut the ribbon and open the doors to the region’s biggest construction project yet. A secondary school of international standards will transform the area in more ways than one!

Thus far, we are working on Phase 1 of construction. This phase includes one classroom block (contains 12 classrooms), the girls’ and boys’ dormitories, and the toilet buildings. We’re excited to welcome our first class of students, but we still need help to complete this phase! Donate at reachforuganda.org or contact us to learn more!

Last week, we were invited to speak at the United Nations for their Commission on the Status of Women ! Thank you to Tammy Tibbetts and She's the First for the invitation. We were able to share REACH for Uganda's work with the girls and women in Uganda and make some great connections with other organizations doing great work in achieving gender equality.

03/17/2024

Growing up can be tough, especially for young women and girls in rural Eastern Uganda. To make sure that our female students get the most out of their education and to maximize the possibility of their success, we make sure to provide mentorship programs. Male students are mentored as well to provide education on the importance of gender equality and equal opportunity.

03/12/2024

When our founders John and Joyce started Arlington Academy of Hope in 2004, they wanted to make sure that girls and boys had equal access to education - leading to equal opportunity to succeed. In the communities we work in, it’s not common for girls to have this kind of access to school.

Arlington Academy of Hope has changed that. Now, girls make up more than 50% of our students at Arlington Junior School and Matuwa Junior School. Girls have equal opportunity to attend Secondary School and University or Vocational School - just like their male classmates.

Uplifting girls and young women through education is important to us. Our communities are excellent examples that including women in education brings about prosperity for everyone!
