Better yet just don’t get the braids at all!!!! 🫣 But forreal!!! This topic has been over looked 🤦🏽‍♀️ 🚨you’re gonna wanna save this or 📝 take notes, and probably even 📩 send this to someone because it needs to be known 👉🏾 Take your hair down at least a week prior to your appointment. This will give you a chance to shampoo and remove the product build up from your hair giving the stylist a clean slate to properly assess the hair, treat and perform whatever is needed (especially when needing a relaxer) 👉🏾 giving yourself this time also allows your scalp time to recover from any over manipulation caused from removing extensions, braids, and most importantly detangling it 👉🏾 be sure to detangle your hair before you even think about shampooing it. This will ensure you remove all the dead hair from not combing your hair for however long you’ve had it in this style and prevent your hair from matting I promise you’ll thank me later. After moving into a new state where I knew no one…. growing my clientele from ZERO to what it is today the hard work and discipline. But I killed it!!! And wonton my first 90 days I became a suite owner!! 🎉🎉 If you are looking to grow your clientele here’s some tips that worked amazing for me: 1. TAKE PICTURES & VIDEOS OF EVERYTHING. - Take videos of the process, you working behind the scenes, before and after videos, etc. The content that I didn’t think I would use came in handy when I started running out of content and needed something to post. 2. BE CONSISTENT - Make sure you post consistently so Instagram pushes your content out to new potential prospects (mainly reels) 3.look the part - Stay fly! As a short hair stylist I made sure that I kept my hair looking good and intentionally went out after I did my hair to attract attention and gain visibility and potential clients. (That’s old school, remember people are watching 👀) 4. YELP -yelp was magic for me!! This is where I utilized all of that content I made (good before and after pics). I invested in yelp ads set up my website to make it easy for bookings and contacting and within a few months I was booked and busy! It was a lot of work but it was so worth it! If you are considering becoming a salon suite owner but you’re scared, just keep going! Your efforts will reflect in your success just as long as you are being consistent, strategic and intentional 🫶🏾✨ Oh …. Building a clientele comes with some major work but allow me to share some of the ways that have worked for me! ❗️Share and save this for later 1️⃣ Communication: I like to send things like Thank you notes (via email or text messaging or if you’re really fancy handwritten ) Shortly after their appointment. Having your clients business feel appreciated is sooo important and then that also opens the door if they have any questions for you about their service, about the products they left with or about their next appointment! And with this you can give a friendly ask to leave a client review. Also make sure to Follow up 3-6 weeks If they didn’t rebook after their service and you want them to come in. Reach out and tell them you have a few openings and get them back in. Sometimes we have to be our clients advocate! 2️⃣ Find ways to relate Building authentic relationships with your clients is so important. If you can relate to them it will build trust and your relationship will grow quicker and stronger! 3️⃣ Client notes If you have a hard time remembering specifics (things they like, something special happening in your clients life, maybe a birthday, baby due date, a fun trip) just write it in your clients appointment notes to remind you! Over time my memory has gotten better but it always great to have a backup 🙃 4️⃣ Really listen to them Regular consultations and chair side chats are important. You are building a relationship with these women or men and you want to make sure that they know that they are heard. I couldn’t stress this enough. Guide the conversation with them, listen with intention! 😉 5️⃣ Be patient Building a strong clientele took me years. Sometimes it seems like someone built a loyal clientele overnight but I promise you that’s not the reality. Perfect your craft and focus on your returning clientele! This is big right here. Growing up, you would always see on TV that Hairstylist were dressed so fashionable and cute 👀… but realistically,😮‍💨 how in the heck were they working 10 and 12 hour days in heels and stuffy clothing. You can definitely look put together and professional without being uncomfortable and I choose to just wear what makes me comfortable so that I can move freely And perform the job at hand.
