SSWU was co-founded in 2014 by Nyakan Gile and Esther Sprague shortly after the eruption of conflict in 2013 in South Sudan to support women and children impacted by the war. SSWU continues to assist South Sudanese citizens and the refugees affected by the current conflict in Sudan.This week the organization helped in the evacuation of more than 4000 returnees from Jooda Sudan, to the UNHCR transit center in Renk South Sudan, where they can proceed to thier final states.Thanks to our donors, Sudan Unlimited for their support.

SSWU is involved in the emergency evacuation of South Sudanese citizens trapped in Khartoum, due to the war erupted on April 15, 2023. With support from our partners Sudan Unlimited and Sudan Sunrise, SSWU was able to able to evacuate more than 800 people, women, men and children to Rank Upper Nile.
