Stanford will remain test-optional for students applying in this year’s 2024-25 application cycle, but will resume requiring tests for applicants in the 2025-26 application cycle and beyond.

They join a growing list of selective colleges restoring test requirements in 2024 and beyond, including Brown, Yale, Harvard, Dartmouth, and UT Austin.

🚨🚨Breaking news🚨🚨 Harvard University becomes the latest to announce a return to standardized testing requirements, reversing their previous commitment to remain test-optional through the admitted Class of 2030.

🚨🚨 Breaking news 🚨🚨 The University of Texas at Austin joins Yale, Dartmouth, and Brown in returning to require standardized testing from 2024 applicants and beyond.

UT is also implementing a new October 15 Early Action deadline starting in 2024. If you plan to apply to UT, be sure to take the SAT or ACT and apply early!

🚨🚨 Breaking news! 🚨🚨 Brown University is the latest Ivy League institution to announce they will return to requiring test scores from all applicants starting in 2024.

The university cited concerns about disadvantaging underrepresented students who may be tempted to withhold test scores that would actually help them get accepted, a very similar concern expressed by Dartmouth and Yale, who also recently reinstated their test requirements.

🚨🚨 Breaking news! 🚨🚨 Yale University is now the second Ivy League institution (after Dartmouth) to announce they will return to requiring test scores from all applicants starting in 2024. Unlike Dartmouth, they will be test-flexible, meaning they will consider AP or IB scores if a student does not have ACT or SAT test scores to submit.
