thanks for your support and love on my last post. there are big changes to fight for... and for now, i'm immersing myself in my own work: making small, beautiful things, letter by letter.

I had an abortion. Actually, I had two.

While we were trying to conceive, I had two miscarriages. My body would not expel the fetal tissue on its own, so I had to have a medical abortion (D&C) for my own health. Twice.

I have close friends who have had abortions because of ectopic pregnancy, which—if not treated by medical abortion—will lead to deadly internal bleeding. I have close friends who have had later pregnancy abortions nonviable genetic defects were discovered in the baby. I have close friends who are OBGYNs who perform abortions for the health of their patients, who would now risk jail time by fulfilling their medical ethical duty.

I also have close friends who have had abortions because it was simply the right decision for them and their family.

The right for a woman to make informed health decisions about her own body is FUNDAMENTAL.
