Constantinos (Dino) Emilios Papanastasiou (1959-2024)

Constantinos (Dino) Emilios Papanastasiou departed to Heaven on Monday, July 22, 2024, at his home in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dino was born on April 19, 1959, in Shelby, North Carolina, to Helen Papanastasiou and the late Emilios Papanastasiou. He grew up in Asheville, North Carolina, with his siblings John, Nick, and Maria. An entrepreneur at heart, Dino founded and owned several businesses.
He married his wife, Penny, in April of 2001, and they had their daughter, Alexia, in December of 2003.

Dino was an adored husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, godfather, and friend. He was a man of simple, strong faith who enjoyed the company and fellowship of others. His smile would light up the room, and the warmth of his friendly demeanor and kind heart was felt by all. Dino had many fun qualities about him. He was a cooking connoisseur, Wine Spectator enthusiast, Level One Sommelier, Duran Duran devotee, etiquette expert, and Djokovic’s biggest fan. Dino was the most loyal friend one could ever have, a supportive husband and beloved father, an active listener even on the busiest days, and somebody one could always rely on to offer a helping hand.

He is survived by his loving wife, Penny Papanastasiou; and their cherished daughter, Alexia Papanastasiou; as well as his mother, Helen Papanastasiou; his brothers, John (Mary) Papanastasiou and Nick Papanastasiou; his sister, Maria (Frank) Cavadas; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nephews, and god-daughters.

Visitation will be at 9:00 am on Friday, July 26, 2024, with the Trisagion and funeral to follow at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Asheville, NC, with Father Michael Diavatis officiating, and subsequent interment at Lewis Memorial Park, 415 Beaverdam Road, Asheville, NC.

Dino’s legacy of love, friendship, humor, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He would always say, “it’s better to look good than to feel good”. May his memory be eternal.
