Today is , a holiday for both celebration & reflection. On this day in 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

We hope everyone will take time to reflect on the importance of freedom for ALL and what freedom truly means. 🖤

Boyd Nursing & Rehabilitation is thrilled to celebrate Natasha Elliott, RN! 🥳 Natasha began her career as an SRNA, completed LPN school last year, and recently graduated as a registered nurse. She has been a valued member of our community for over three years, and we are excited to support her on her nursing journey! Word is, becoming a nurse practitioner is next on her list! Show your purple! 💜 June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month. We extend our support to raise awareness for those living with Alzheimer's and dementia, striving to advocate for those affected and provide compassionate care to improve their quality of life.

The 8th annual Turtle Race was held at Boyd Nursing & Rehabilitation this week! After a long relay delay, the race was relocated indoors. Our residents and Care Team members cheered for his and her favorite turtle to win. No turtles were harmed during this event! The community courtyard is a turtle sanctuary with over one dozen turtles calling Boyd home! 🐢💚

On Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who have died in the performance of their military duties while serving in the United States Armed Forces. We spend this time reflecting on their service and our freedoms. ❤️

This week is national EMS week and our Community Liaison, Heather Ferguson, delivered donuts to Boyd County EMS on behalf of the Boyd Nursing and Rehab community! 💙❤️

May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, and this week, we are proud to recognize Tiffany Noble, Boyd Nursing & Rehab's dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist! 💙❤️ With nearly 13 years of experience treating residents at Boyd and other partnering communities, Tiffany's expertise and commitment make her an invaluable part of our therapy team.

A fellow therapist shared, "Tiffany is wonderful, and the residents love her. It has been a pleasure working with her over the past several years." Thank you, Tiffany, for all that you do—we appreciate you! 🥳
