We are busy on the farm using a variety of tools! https://www.adventuresinlearning.net/post/the-t-in-stem
The T in STEM On the farm the T in STEM refers to the numerous tools we use. How can you travel from one rock to another? How can you move dirt? How can you make a hole in wood? How can you collect eggs? How can you move water? Students at school on the farm learn and explore a variety of STEM based concepts. It....
Etc. etc. I don’t remember anything from school but the basics... but these skills would have lasted a lifetime.

Wiggly, Squiggly Worms Springtime on the farm involves clean up, prep, and discovery. One of the first animals to show itself this time of year is one of our favorites, worms! Some of the best of spring is coming our way this April!
Tiny Farmers Playgroup allows little ones with their grown-ups to explore the farm. Visit www.adventuresinlearning.net to learn more.
It is critical that we allow for babies to explore their environments at an early age. Outdoor play will challenge their senses, muscles, and cognitive skills in ways indoor play can never compete with. 💚
Literacy on the farm is part of our daily activities, and many organic learning opportunities are offered. Students identify their and peer names on job cards, take attendance, use letter tiles to create words, identify and match letter manipulatives, label objects using a dictionary, make signs to use on the farm, and more. Activities are play based and authentic where children take risks in learning.
Fresh snow on the farm offers so many possibilities… rainbows in snow, snow and slush pies, following tracks, and so much more!
There have been many events in the past two years and in the last few days that have been difficult for adults to wrap their brains around, and even harder for our children to understand. Discussing difficult subjects with young and older children is hard, but important. It is important to understand where your child is coming from and what information they are ready for. Asking questions has always been my go to as an educator and parent. When your child asks a why, where, what, how question begin by asking them why, where, what, or how do you think...? This will give you a baseline to begin your discussion and meet your child where they are and what they are truly asking. Be honest if you don't know the answer and say you will look into finding the answer together. Ask them where they think would be a good place to look for information. Be honest when it feels hard, and validate for yourself and them that it is scary, sad. This article offers some good tips.
How to Talk to Kids About the Ukraine Invasion Many kids may be hearing about the situation in Ukraine. Our instincts may be to avoid talking to them about tough stuff on the news, but if we don't, they'll piece it together from other places. Our job is to provide our kids with accurate, age-appropriate information, while reminding them that the...

Making Things Feel Less Hard After School On The Farm As an educator for many years I have always noticed some children struggle more than others when things feel challenging and hard. It wasn't until I began teaching high school in the late 90's that I realized in so many ways young adults are similar to small children. They struggle with many of the....
