Daisy has been fine turning her pottery skills at an alarming rate for the past few years with the attentive guidance of local pottery legend . It’s been so inspiring to watch Daisy blossom into such a skilled potter in such a short time. She is an absolute joy to know, & we’re so excited to get to introduce her to you if you don’t already have the pleasure of knowing her. 💜

Meet Joey Becker!

Joey is a gifted artist of multiple mediums, primarily 3D sculptures and pearl bead creations. He sometimes follows patterns, but often just improvises his own, and the results are truly remarkable!

Joey is 12 years old, creative, kind, thoughtful, generous, & hilarious. He is openly gay, and incredibly supportive, and compassionate toward his peers.

Getting to know Joey Becker as a regular hot chocolate and lemonade customer at Sleeper over the past year has illuminated just how much of an impact on our q***r youth inclusivity and visibility can have, and how important it is to create and maintain safe spaces for them to grow, explore, and thrive. He is an inspiration and a light to all who know him. He is missing his weekly DnD night to make his Art Walk debut as our first featured artist. 🎨

This coffee holds a special place in my (Roxy’s) heart. For 3 extremely educational years I worked for in New York City. In their training program I received the time & attention I had been looking for as an aspiring barista. Working in one of the busiest locations in the city, () my skills were honed to a sharp point making hundreds of drinks per day on rapid fire.

When Pete & I were getting ready to open Sleeper, we asked our roasters to source something similar to Ninth Street’s signature flagship coffee, a yellow bourbon pulped natural from Brazil.

Our guys found something that hit the same vein. Chocolatey, peanutty, jammy, the way you crave it when you smell it brewing. It is versatile & complex for every brewing method. Espresso, pour over, cold brew, drip, aeropress, you name it.

This is our second round sourcing from the Fazenda Santo Antonio farms. Unfortunately, the next crop’s yield didn’t rank high enough on the cupping table for us to purchase a 3rd round. So our supply of this sweet, rounded coffee is coming to an end in just a few weeks or less. Get yourself a cup on drip or espresso before it’s gone for the foreseeable future.

Loving something as ever-changing as coffee really teaches us to appreciate the moment, & enjoy good things while they last. Our roasters have several excellent coffees in the cue to potentially be our next featured espresso. Until then, it’s back to the cupping table.

This week, for our first feature, we will have the Beusaco Pequeños on both batch brew (drip) & espresso.

The following slides are notes on the producers of this particular coffee from our purchasers, forwarded to us from our roasters.

It is deeply impactful to regularly meditate on how many skilled hands this wonderful plant passes through from farm to cup with such intention & thoughtfulness, before it even reaches us at the brewing stage, then finally you, the consumer.
It is staggering to reflect on how intricately we are all connected. 🫶🏻

We just got the keys to our forever home at Pier 12! 🔑

Many of you have known that we have been looking for Sleeper’s permanent location for quite a while. Well, we finally found it, & it’s got a beautiful view. 😍

We’ve given our 30 days notice at Commercial Street, so we are aiming for a late May reopening in the new location!

We can’t wait to bring you inside. 🌊
