The Spilled Ink Studio

This last project was a special one! The client received this prayer as a cross stitch for her wedding day and she wanted to pass the tradition on to her son, who is getting married next weekend! How sweet is that?? 😍 Can’t wait to see it framed. ⁣

This was also my first time doing a large layout, all with nib and ink! Loved the way it turned out — may have to create a little something similar for baby boy’s nursery 💙⁣

All I needed was some (okay lots) of time and 4 simple tools: Speedball oblique pen holder, Sumi ink, Nikko G nib, and some quality paper 👍🏼⁣

Tonight’s project is a fun colorful sign for a ⁣O N E Y E A R birthday party! 🎂 Can’t wait to see what memories are collected in the book — what a sweet idea! ⁣

Practicing some drills tonight with my #𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 - slanted and exaggerated loops with a slightly bouncy baseline. Most importantly, I wanted to keep everything legible! ⁣

•I’m originally from St. Charles, Illinois but really who can tolerate those winters? I love sunshine!
•Carson calls me “Spills McGee” because I have a knack for knocking something over at least once a day (I may or may not have spilled wine on our ceiling) 🤷🏼‍♀️ So, my company name had to include my loving - and accurate - nickname, Spills. From there, it was easy to come up with The Spilled Ink Studio 🖋
