AthFest!

We are SO EXCITED to announce that local artist, Dan Smith a.k.a See Dan Paint, is the 2020 AthFest Theme Artist!!

Dan's designs will brand the 2020 AthFest Music & Arts Festival and the AthHalf Half Marathon & 5K, and will be featured on festival and race tshirts and merchandise, in ads and billboards, as well as here on our social media pages and website.

We'll be sharing his work here soon, but you can get a sneak peek at his design theme for this year's events on our Instastory !

Dan has been making and teaching art in Athens for decades, using the moniker See Dan Paint for his artwork. In addition to making art that can be seen all around town, including several pieces at The World Famous, Smith taught art at local elementary and high schools for twenty years.

Currently, Dan is working on a PhD at University of Georgia Lamar Dodd School of Art in Art Education and works as the Fine Arts and Physical Education Curriculum Coordinator at the Clarke County School District. He has a BFA and MFA from UGA as well.

It's especially cool that Dan was chosen because he has received Athfest Educates grants for his work with students in the past, including bringing local artists Patrick Dean in to show students his work and Jamie Calkin to do a big mural with students at Barnett Shoals Elementary School.
