Today is Election Day. While I am running unopposed, we still need your vote! I am looking forward to the opportunity to represent ALL students, teachers, staff, and parents of McMinn County. I would be honored to have your vote.

As a teacher McMinn County and a mother of five children in our school system, I ask you to vote for my husband Kevin Goins in the District 2 (Niota, EK Baker, and Ingleside) School Board race. Kevin believes in our system and in advocating for our children.

Early Voting opens back up tomorrow 9:00-12:00. Thank you to all the voters who have shown their support over the past several days. I would be honored to have your vote!

As many of you know, I am running for School Board District 2. My wife is a teacher in the county and we have five children in the system. I am very concerned with what I am seeing transpire.

I know for a fact we are losing a number of teachers after this year. Not to higher paying systems with better benefits. Not because they are retiring. Not because they want to stay home and are financially able to do so. They are leaving because they absolutely hate teaching this curriculum. They are not clearly led or openly appreciated. Not by their principals, but above that.

I have approached principals and teachers and I like what I hear at the school level. What doesn’t add up is they love their students, their principals, and their schools, yet they are departing their positions, many close to retirement age.

I have been sounding the alarm about this for 2 years now. I have seen morale tank in our most valuable asset in this school system, our teachers.

I am a huge student of and advocate for effective, servant leadership. I am very invested in exploring everything about our budget, our policy, and our leadership to help identify the problem and rebuild the morale of our school system.

We are capable of great things if we address the issues facing our personnel. I support our professionals and will always speak up for what is right.

I am excited and hopeful to represent the students, teachers and staff, and parents of McMinn County. I believe we have the greatest teachers and students in the state. We need to provide them with the necessary freedom and resources to succeed. I am passionate about giving a voice to our principals and classroom teachers. They are the ones who know our students' needs and abilities best. I would be honored to have your support and vote on May 3rd.
