Oh hey! Long time no MUSH👋. How’s everyone doing? A lot has changed since our last Mushbloom update last November. Think it’s finallyy time to pop in on the socials for a semi formal “Hello!”. Now that it is summer (happy solstice 🌞) and we have been getting asked the question it feels every time we venture out… We can officially announce Mushbloom will be coming back🎉 When? Well, I guess we like to keep you on your toes! With lots of planning ahead of us, we are currently in the process of finalizing build plans in a new space, raising funds (more details to come), and trying our best to strategically make this work for the long run considering we are sort of starting all but scratch again. We have appreciated the enthusiasm from those eager to see us at markets and local menus once again and thank you for your patience. Hope to see you all around and this time with some more positive news to share🧡🍄‍🟫💚 In the meantime here are some pics from our off-season adventures late winter/early spring’24 🙂

With gratitude, Sam and Cam

Hello! Here’s an important update on the Fall and Winter Season of Mushbloom🍁🚨❄️
Firstly, thank you all 🧡 To every organization, customer, and fellow fungi enthusiast who has made this a wonderful experience for us thus far. This market season has showed us what we are capable of, what our options may be moving forward, and how growing food can grow community.

One of the cool things about mushroom farming is that depending on the operation, it is possible to farm through winter. We were planning to bring more mushies and different varieties to you the next few months but, unfortunately we have stopped production earlier than planned. To those who were looking forward to that, we send our apologies. Being young, first-generation farmers has it’s ups and downs. Farming has served us well this year but as renters, unfortunately some things are out of our control. We have explored our options and feel we need to do what makes the most sense for our situation, our wellbeing, and for us financially. We have a lot going on! All that considered, we have decided that Mushbloom has officially started winter hibernation. If you have visited us at the Athens Farmers Market or kept up with our stories the past few weeks, you are aware that this past Saturday 10/21 was our last market of the season. Definitely an exciting market to end on ! (The Halloween Bash🎃If you are wondering why we are dressed as snails 🐌😎)

At this time it is difficult to say when and if we will be back up producing and fruiting in 2024. In the mean time, we will still probably pop in on social media here and there to share some fun wild fungi, food content, and to keep you in the loop on our journey. We appreciate your support 🧡

Thank you for blooming with us.
Mush love and gratitude,
Sam and Cam of Mushbloom Gardens

🤎🫶Back at you pioppino🫶🤎
Good morning! See you soon .ohio 9-12pm 🌦️

These pioppinos are showing a great visual of how mushrooms can change color with age. They can develop or lose pigmentation depending on light, growth stage, and/or simply genetics. At first glance you may think these are two different strains or two completely different species. They are the same! How cool. Sorta reminds me of apples or peaches…sort of.

Have you gotten a grow bag from us? Here’s a reminder to check your spent blocks!

After you’re done your rounds of harvesting from your grow bag, it is then considered “spent”. That doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t fruit in the future! These are some of ours we leave out for the backyard critters and crawlers to enjoy (sometimes us too). Some people like to:
-bury the full block in their garden bed
- break up and use in gardening/farming soil
- mix with wood chips
-use in compost/build up soil
-bury it halfway in a damp shady spot outside and cover with an wood chips, leaves, sawdust or clean straw
-simply leave it under a tree or your bushes

Whenever we get some rain or temperatures are spring-like or fall-like, give them a check👀 They like to surprise you! You should get at least one and possibly several more harvests from your outdoor spent block❤️

Good Morning ☀️ Here with a market update🚨 Mushbloom WILL NOT be present this upcoming Saturday 7/22 for AFM. We look forward to seeing you next time!

This photo is from a fluffy meal prep moment🫡🔪☁️🦁 We’re fans of a fine chop and a rough tear but sometimes we need a little more🌪️💥🌪️! Have you ever put your mushrooms in a food processor?? Here we have that has been pulsed and shredded in the food processor before seasoning and cooking down in the cast iron. Sometimes we lean into seafood flavors when we shred LM but this time we decided to draw inspiration from ground meat/chicken flavors. Keeps well in the fridge to include in meals throughout the week! 🍄🤝🐓

•JULY UPDATES•
A new month is a few days away🤯 so it seems like a great time for some market updates🌞

For the summer months (and summer heat🥵) we are going to take it easy and keep it simple with our current varieties and will be spending more “office time”along “farm time” planning for our favorite season: Autumn 🥰 With that in mind, July and August will be less fruitful compared to spring. So, we might not be at every market this month! Be sure to check into our stories for updates💕

🚨As mush🍄 as we would like to kick off the first day of July with you, we will NOT be attending Saturday 07/01 AFM 🚨

BUT we are looking forward to seeing you the FIRST WEEK twice (possibly thrice👀 look out for our weekly Wednesday AFM updates!)
FRIDAY 07/07 Shawnee Farmers Market
SATURDAY 07/08 Athens Farmers Market

UPDATED: We will be attending AFM Wednesday 07/05

July is a special month for us. What are you looking forward to this July?
