Alumnae and current Associate Dean for Extension, Dr. Laura Perry Johnson, will retire this spring after more than 35 years of service to the state of Georgia and the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Dr. Johnson has been especially passionate about 4-H Project Achievement in the Veterinary Science Category and the Pineywoods Farm Scholarship, a fund created by her father in 2007 to provide annual scholarships to CAES students.

On Saturday, April 6th the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences held the 68th Annual UGA CAES Alumni Association Awards Celebration at the Classic Center in Athens, GA. The CAES Alumni Association Awards is an annual event that honors college alumni for their outstanding achievements. The ceremony also includes recognition of new inductees into the Georgia Agricultural Hall of Fame. Congratulations to our 2024 CAES Alumni Awards honorees!

We are excited to reveal that Elzie "Argene" Claxton (BSA - Agricultural Education, '80; MED - Agricultural Education, '82) is one of our 2024 Georgia Agricultural Hall of Fame inductees. Argene spent his 37 year career in agricultural education and continues to mentor young ag teachers in his retirement as well as coaches state winning teams to prepare for national competitions for both FFA and 4-H. His impact to the state of Georgia and agricultural education is truly remarkable.
