Alright, this is a post about this lady and also about the farmer's market (Please go vote- https://markets.farmland.org/.../meigs-county-farmers.../)

I met Steph about 10+ years ago and we instantly became very close friends due to our love for Jesus and His Word. I was desperate for a close girlfriend to go deep with spiritually, and she was the one God used to fill the void!

Fast forward a few years of very rich friendship and she starts up this Farmer's Market (I can't remember if it was 2018 or 2019- I think 2019), and asks me if I will be one of her vendors. I had a lot going on and told her I could only be there about half time, so she said Halo (her super wonderful, talented, amazing daughter) was willing to vend my soap in my absence. I saw it as a fantastic opportunity to give the Meigs Market a hand-up. I already had a thriving business and a lot of customers who would drive all the way to Athens to get my soap, so I figured I'd bring customers to the Market, and simultaneously spare them from driving that far just to get some soap!

Fast forward to 2020... the year where the whole world shut down and people went into soul-paralysis due to fear and isolation. I didn't have anything else to do that year, since all the big fairs and music festivals were all shut down, so week after week I watched the Meigs Farmer's Market, firsthand, as it carried us all through the. most traumatic year we have ever experienced. The Market became a safe, outdoor space for people to have human interaction, to see people's smiles, and I am almost completely certain, it saved some lives. (Steph has no idea what kind of influence she is having simply by living out her calling and being faithful with it).

I have watched this Market thrive under her watch. I have watched her continuously turn the praise up to God. I have watched her make the equivalent of about 30 cents an hour for the work she does, and do it with a cheerful, buoyant attitude. And I have watched her, all the while, taking faithful care of her daughters (2 of which she is still homeschooling), her wonderful husband (who doesn't really get any credit for all he does for the Market, yet God sees and will reward him!), and likewise, caring diligently for her Mother-in-Law whose needs are great in this season of her life.

There are not a lot of people I respect as much as I respect this lady. It's not that it's hard to earn my respect. It's that she has over-and-abundantly, accidentally proven to me how deeply she cares about serving the Lord with her whole heart, soul, life, energy. She is a warrior! I have often said, if I had an armor bearer, it would be Stephanie Rife! And I think she says the same about me these days. We are so blessed to have one another!
And if you want to know the real reason why this Market is so dang close to officially winning (it's a neck-and-neck race right now, so please go vote!!!), it's because of the simple prayers of this warrior-woman who I so dearly love, and who cares WAY more about the exaltation of Christ than she does about this Market! If you want to join us on Saturday mornings, we pray around 9:15, usually at my booth (though I will be at Paw Paw this weekend, and I have no idea where they pray. when I'm not there, so find the cute Market Manager and ask her). That is the real reason this market thrives... because the lady running it cares more about Jesus than anything else in the whole world! And everything she does is an overflow of her love for Him!!!
