This International Women's Day, Hermeus is reaffirming our commitment to empowering women from all backgrounds to lead and innovate in the aerospace industry.
Hermeus has secured a spot on Built In's Best Places to Work list for the second year in a row! Come join the team building the future of hypersonics: https://www.hermeus.com/careers .
Excited to announce that Hermeus has been awarded a multi-year contract by the Defense Innovation Unit - DIU to mature hypersonic aircraft subsystem and mission system technology.
The contract endorses our iterative, hardware-first approach which will accelerate the development of operational hypersonic aircraft.

Honoring our veterans at Hermeus and beyond for their selfless and honorable service. Thank you 🇺🇸
Meet Quarterhorse Mk 0. Our first fully integrated vehicle that will validate various systems from electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, avionics, steering, and propulsion. Mk 0 will not take flight but demonstrate remote command and control during taxiing.
Mk 0 is the first of four Quarterhorse vehicles in a test program that will ultimately lead to an aircraft capable of breaking the all-time airspeed record held by the legendary SR-71.
Learn more about our rapid prototyping approach here: https://www.hermeus.com/blog-quarterhorse-mk-ready-for-test
To build the future of aerospace, start by building the future of the aerospace workforce. Hermeus is proud to partner with the Patti Grace Smith Fellowship to welcome incredible undergraduates into the industry with their first internships. Apply now: pgsfellowship.org/apply.
Have you heard the Hermeus origin story? John Coogan stopped by to chat with us and created a 25 minute in-depth video on where we came from and where we're going:

London to New York in 90 minutes – AJ Piplica chatted with George Downs of The Wall Street Journal about the future of hypersonic flight. Here's a clip from the video where AJ explains – as simply as possible – how both a turbojet and a ramjet work.

Wishing everyone a safe and joyous Independence Day 🇺🇸
Hypersonic travel will almost feel like time travel. Imagine:
• Leave NYC for London at 7AM
• Arrive in London at 1:30PM local time
• Meet with clients, go to the pub, take a 9PM flight home
• Land in NYC at 5:30PM local time, have dinner with your family
Additive manufacturing is evolving the way we engineer. On the latest podcast we're joined by Matt Karesh of and nerd out about 3D printing. Check it out at the link in our bio.
Latest podcast is all about building and testing our first aircraft Quarterhorse.
Check it out at the link in bio.
At the end, our flight test engineers get quizzed on aviator slang. Do you know what “sierra hotel” means? How about “cherub”?
We're always building on our in-house manufacturing capabilities so we can move quickly, save money, and rapidly scale our production.
Our factory floor is alive. Come build with us: https://bit.ly/3D1uCKZ.
NEWS: We’ve selected the Pratt & Whitney F100 as the turbine for our hypersonic engine.
Securing a readily available, off-the-shelf engine will save Hermeus billions of dollars in research and development costs and years of schedule. Â
The F100 will act as the turbine portion of our next turbine-based combined cycle engine named Chimera II. This engine will power Darkhorse.
Chimera II is a the larger, more powerful version of Chimera – the engine we’ve been testing all this year. Chimera powers our first aircraft Quarterhorse.

Get fired up for our LIVE YouTube AMA with Founders Glenn Case, Skyler Shuford, and Michael Smayda tomorrow at 12:30pm! Shoot us a question in the comments for a chance to have it answered live and the opportunity to win one of two Hermeus collegiate Sweatshirts. Get notified when the show starts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LhEA4kmluE.
Here's a throwback to our very first podcast episode. The founders talk what it'll feel like flying Mach 5.
This time last year we released a shot-for-shot remake of the “planning” scene from Oceans Eleven.
It was a fun recruiting video to make and actually lays out our mission pretty well. Check it out at the link in bio if you haven’t seen it!
Join us for a LIVE YouTube AMA with our Founders this Thurs, Dec.1st @ 1PM ET! Shoot us your questions in the comments for a chance to have them answered on our livestream.
To help kickoff our first live AMA, we're giving away two Hermeus Collegiate Sweatshirts. To enter for your chance to win, simply submit a question in the comments.
Here’s a behind the scenes look from our recent engine test milestone!
Nothing's changed - we're still hiring the best engineers to help us radically accelerate air travel. See what positions are a good fit for you: https://bit.ly/3EAVotJ.
Here’s what’s happening when our engine transitions from turbojet mode to ramjet mode.
At low speeds our engine is in turbojet mode – but that only gets us to around Mach 3.
We then bypass the turbojet and transition to ramjet mode, which is optimal for Mach 3-5.

We just completed a major hypersonic milestone – turbojet to ramjet mode transition! This is one of the most important technological feats to making operational hypersonic flight a reality.
Most hypersonic platforms use rockets – our approach allows us to use existing infrastructure at traditional airports.
To our veterans at Hermeus and all across the country, thank you!
