On February 16, 1854, the Georgia Legislature approved an act creating the town of Conyers and established that its corporate boundaries would extend one half mile in every direction from the Georgia Railroad Depot, which serves as the Conyers Welcome Center today. Today, Conyers is a bustling city made up of nearly 12 square miles and is home to more than 17,500 residents.
