Common Good Atlanta is partnering with the University of West Georgia to support their bachelor's program in Interdisciplinary Studies at the Atlanta Federal Prison. We're helping nearly 40 incarcerated students with college and federal financial aid applications and pre-college placement testing. 🎓
With Pell Grants now available to incarcerated Americans, the need for additional support is greater than ever. Your help is crucial for sustaining and expanding these programs, especially as we prepare for UWG’s expansion into county facilities next summer. Together, we can build pathways to campus for UWG students reentering society. 🌟

🎭🎨This summer, we're bringing the arts to our students in impactful ways. 🎭🎨
Starting in August, Atlanta-based actor Wigasi Brant (Morehouse ’12) will lead an eight-week acting course. This class is part of our initiative to revive the theater program at Burruss, defunct since the '90s. The course aims to develop practical, thinking artists and effective communicators. 🎬
A fine arts course will launch at Whitworth Women’s Facility in Hartwell, GA. Building on last year’s success, students will create art in Drawing I, Watercolor I, Drawing II, and Watercolor II. Athens-based artist Don Chambers will teach these courses. 🖌️
Since the beginning of the year, Morehouse College has been leading the way at Metro Reentry. Judge Winfield Murray teaches history, Dr. Rae Shen teaches Chinese, and Dr. Nathan Nobis teaches philosophy. Hope Hilton, our site director and art professor, showcased student artwork (pictured here) at Morehouse College this spring. 📚
By supporting Common Good Atlanta, you are helping to restore human dignity and expand access to education and the arts for incarcerated individuals. Your support is crucial in helping us continue this important work.

Common Good Atlanta has partnered with scholar, activist, and journalist Page Dukes to revive The Atlantian, a historic newspaper written by incarcerated individuals at the Atlanta federal prison. 📰✨ (an old cover pictured here)
With the support of a grant from Georgia Humanities, Page Dukes has launched the Atlanta Community Journalism Project, meeting weekly with 20 dedicated incarcerated men. The first issue of the Atlantian Revival is complete and has been authorized for external publication by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. We can’t wait to share it with you soon!
Together, we can give voice to those who need it most and preserve an important piece of history. Thank you for your support! 🙏❤️

We are thrilled to showcase our partnership with
Morehouse College, bringing a Clemente cycle of courses to the historic federal prison (USP) just south of Grant Park! 📚✨
Since last year, Morehouse faculty have been teaching CGA courses in creative writing, philosophy, and Africana history. Currently, Atlanta artist and Morehouse professor Masud Olufani is teaching the history of Black Art, with the Clemente cycle concluding this fall with a course on Black literature.
This partnership has been warmly welcomed by students and administrators alike. Shout out to Dr. Nate Norment and Dr. Christopher Gleason for being awarded Volunteer of the Year for their incredible efforts!
Starting this fall, Morehouse will offer fully accredited courses, continuing to provide faculty for future Clemente cycles over the next three years. As we grow, CGA aims to expand our offerings to include academic support, tutoring, enrichment, and reentry support.
