OB-GYN Practice in need of a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant. Our well-established OB-GYN practice in Buckhead, GA is looking for a certified MA to join our 8-physician practice for back office duties. Will work mainly with one provider but may float as needed.
The Certified Medical Assistant performs clinical duties under the direction of a physician and back-office lead. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician. Certified medical assistants will assist the physicians in the diagnostic testing, examination, education, and treatment of patients.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Escorts patients to examining rooms to prepare them for the physician.
Takes detailed medical histories, and determines the reason for the visit.
Interviews patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
Records patient's medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
Presents patient history summary and alerts physicians to patient changes.
Pull lab charts, and annotate patient charts with exam and treatment results.
Assists with in-office examinations and medical procedures including LEEP procedures, IUD insertion, colposcopies, among others.
Helps physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
Coordinates patient tests and follow-up care. Schedules surgeries, calling surgical center, verifying times with patients, and preparing charts, pre-admission and consent forms. Schedules patients with other doctors for consultation as required.
Counsels patients in the office and on the phone concerning treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
Stocks exam rooms and restrooms.
Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
Authorizes drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
Cleans and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies / Wash and prepare speculum for autoclave.
Prepares and administer medications as directed by a physician.
Performs routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
As needed, operates equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
As needed, performs general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms.
As needed, contacts medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission.
As needed, inventories and orders medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment.
Other back-office duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Extensive clinical OB/GYN knowledge, coupled with ability to proactively implement knowledge.
Knowledge of office policies and procedures to accurately answer questions from patients.
Knowledge and correct usage of medical terminology.
Ability to navigate and effectively use EMR. Knowledge and experience with Centricity EMR system is preferred.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to effectively and clearly communicate in writing, over the telephone, and in person with physicians, office staff, and patients.
Ability to work as part of a team and promote a positive work environment.
Ability to maintain professional attire.
Ability to complete continued education/training requirements.
Ability to report to work on time and as scheduled.
Ability to apply feedback, participate in performance improvement, and continuous quality improvement activities.

Education and Experience:

The Mammography Technologist performs screening examinations of the breast to help in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in patients for our physicians. The candidate exhibits flexibility and adaptability to the unique needs of the imaging department and responds appropriately.
This position is Mon-Fri hours, onsite in Buckhead GA.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Practice safe procedures and adhere to radiation safety measures.
Complete patient education regarding exams.
Promote privacy and comfort for the patient.
Perform screening mammogram based on proper procedures.
Operate mammography equipment carefully and knowledgably.
Practice consistent attendance to assure that the client facility needs and patient needs are met.
Comply with all facility policies, procedures and practices.
Produce high quality images for the radiologist to evaluate.
Complete appropriate documentation in Penrad and on patient history sheet.
Perform quality control functions related to mammography.
Follow infection control and safety guidelines.
Keep work areas clean and free from clutter.
Stock and monitor supplies, as needed.
Download outside images into PACS.
Any other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of office policies and procedures to accurately answer questions from patients.

Education and Experience:
Completion of a two-year approved School of Radiologic Technology
One year of full-time experience as a Mammography Technologist
Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology
ARRT (M) Certification
Continuing Education: MQSA/FDA- 15 CEU’s every 3 years, 200-documented case numbers every 2 years.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform all duties using proper body mechanics.
Frequently move/lift between 25-50 pounds, depending on assignment requirements
Must be able to stand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling and reaching to prepare equipment, materials or objects in order to provide patient care or maintain the patient environment
