The Johnston Family currently fosters teenagers. When they asked the teens in their home

We’re so thankful for families like the Johnstons that show the love of Jesus every day!

1.8 million fewer women are in the workforce today than before the COVID-19 pandemic began. Has the Great Resignation affected you in any way?

Roughly 3.5 million women with school aged children left the workforce in 2020. What effect do you think this will have in the coming years?

Studies by the small business org show that women owned businesses increased from 27% in 2020 to 31% in 2021. Small wins create big waves. We are so proud of every woman who's taken the leap to start her own company and lead with passion. We are here to walk alongside you and would love to serve you in any needs you may have.

We'd also like to shout out our founder, Monica Morgan, for doing exactly this. She started, The Pivotal Companies, from the ground up and has built it into a successful business supporting just under 10 employees! She's a powerhouse leader who is fierce and passionate about all she does, and we are so thankful to have her on our team. Go little rockstar!

The Burning Bra is a nonprofit organization striving to support and empower women in the workplace, in the home, and in our communities. We are a nationwide organization and provide services directly. We primarily serve by providing business services like resume writing, coaching, mentorship, and networking. We support foster, adoptive, and biological parents working towards reunification by providing cleaning + meal services. We also provide education about domestic violence, voting rights, and other issues women face.

"Come here for a second. I want to show you something. I've been looking for it for a while now and finally found it!"

"What is it?" my child asked.

"It's a picture of your biological mom that I've kept safe but forgot where I put it so I've been going through all of our pictures and finally found it. Do you want to take a look at it?"

"Yes!"

I watched as my child gazed upon the image; eyes examined every nook and cranny.

"Is she okay?" my child asked.

"Yes, as far I've heard. Are you okay?" I asked.

"Sure...yes...no."

Tears flowed. My child grabbed me and held on. We stood there, clinging to one another. Scattered around us were images of memories gone by; scraps and pieces of our life together.

Meeting my child's eyes, I said, "It's okay to be sad...angry...worried...relieved...whatever it is that you're feeling."

"I know, Mom."

We talked about where the picture is going to be kept. My child took one more look, put it down and walked away. I stared at the images of our life together, picked up the picture, tucked it away in a special spot and sat down, pondering my child's grief with a measure of my own.

It hurts to see your child hurt; witnessing your child feel many emotions in the span of one moment. It's all just complex and layered, and it's hard to describe unless one has lived it. My heart aches for kids whose (adoptive) parents don't acknowledge their pain; the loss that seems never-ending.

Because it is. It never ends. Despite the love and attachment, there's still such a longing that can't be replaced.

And, it shouldn't.

When you choose to become a parent through adoption, make sure there's a seat at your table for grief.

You will need one.

What a huge blessing!
