The Site Selectors Guild recently concluded our 10th Annual Conference in Orlando with over 400 attendees. It was a tremendous honor to serve as the Chair of the Site Selectors Guild during our 2020-21 governance year. Thank you to our new Chair of the Board and my friend, Chris Lloyd, for this plaque commemorating my service. We pivoted at the start of the pandemic, created a new business plan called Guild Forward, and had great success as an organization as a result of our plan. Many Guild members helped make our success happen. And of course, we couldn’t achieve any of our goals without the support from our Economic Development Organization friends from around the globe. Check out our Annual Report to see our year in review and our path forward. https://siteselectorsguild.com/wp-content/uploads/SSG-Annual-Report-2021.pdf

Jay Garner and Ross Patten Publish Economic Development Book to Help Community Leaders
Coming August 4!
Hey economic development and chamber pros! Ross Patten and I have a book coming out on August 4 titled: Economic Development is Not for Amateurs! A must-read for community leaders on how to achieve economic development success. Ross is a millennial. I’m a baby boomer, so we collaborated to focus on how to achieve economic development success from different perspectives. I’ve always believed that it is incumbent on E.D. pros to help his or her leadership understand the complexities of successful economic development efforts. This book gets you there.
Too many people make economic development success challenging. It doesn’t need to be. It’s not rocket science. But it is an art with plenty of technicalities associated with its successful implementation. Our book breaks down the challenges for the reader to comprehend. It will help your leaders hit the ground running by modeling strategy, tactics, and best practices from across the nation and help guide your future success. If you are an E.D. exec, Chamber leader or city/county manager, we hope that you will buy this for your boards, city council, county commission, state legislators, you name it. To pre-order in eBook format from Amazon for $9.99 (available now) or in paperback (coming soon) for $15.99, click the link here. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08C7942LZ/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi_tkin_p1_i0
