I love seeing my clients get recognized for the great work they are doing. In this case, Account Sense PLLC turned tax season on its head and now spreads out tax planning and preparation over the year rather than working their people to near death in the spring. We put together a communication plan around this last fall, and it has gone incredibly well. Hats off to Jennifer Stanley Mitchell for facing a challenge and creating a unique way to deal with it while still taking great care of clients and employees.
Choosing the scheduled tax season After my last column about spreading out the tax season, several readers contacted me to share their experiences about making busy season more sane.
I had such a great time talking to Liz Barentzen from Accounting+! We discussed how and why young people choose (or don't choose) accounting as their major, why the profession is facing such a talent shortage, and about all the resources that are available through the organization. We even touch on advice for firm leaders to truly stand out as an employer. Check it out!

This is not a new issue, but one that seems to be getting worse rather than better over time. Sm...
