Hello everyone, I’m Amanda Colebeck, a maxillofacial prosthodontist at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, New York! 🦬

I am so excited to be taking over the ACP page today! I plan to share cases of my own and my colleagues in the hopes of increasing awareness on the role of a maxillofacial prosthodontist and the training that is required for our subspecialty.

Starting in July, I will be the director of the newest CODA-accredited Maxillofacial Prosthetics Fellowship in the country, joining the company of the other 7 programs that exist: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Mayo Clinic, MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Alabama, University of California at Los Angeles, the United States Air Force & United States Navy.

Here’s a little bit about me:
🌟 I completed my DDS degree at The State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and then continued on to complete my Masters of Science and Prosthodontics residency.
🌟 Following residency, I completed a Maxillofacial Prosthetics Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
🌟I am a Diplomate of the American College of Prosthodontics and Fellow in the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics.
🌟 I’ve worked at Erie County Medical Center as a maxillofacial prosthodontist for the past 9 years.

💫 Why Maxillofacial Prosthetics? While in dental school, a faculty member (who is my colleague now!), Dr. Terrence McLean, gave a lecture on his role as a maxillofacial prosthodontist at a local cancer hospital. My mind was blown 🤯 and I was hooked 🎣 . Until then, I had no idea this branch of dentistry existed. I fell in love with the idea of restoring such necessary form, function, and esthetics for a patient, and giving them back what they have lost. It’s truly my dream job and I feel incredibly lucky to be a program director and play a role in fostering the next generation of maxillofacial prosthodontists.

This weekend AIDA had the priviledge of being a premier sponsor for the Buckhead Duck Pond Park Annual Fundraiser, hosted by The Ladies of the Lake Garden Club. It was a huge success and we are pleased to be able to support such a beautiful park!

The park, which dates to 1909, is privately owned and maintained by neighborhood residents but is open to the public. We are big fans and highly encourage you to visit for a stroll or a picnic!
