Meet Matthew Smith, BBA Supply Chain Management '26! Matthew is a Summer Operations Management Intern for The Terminal Investment Cooperation(TICO) at the Garden City Terminal in Savannah, Ga.
In this position he manages a fleet of jockey trucks, while revolving through different shifts and positions. These other positions include primitive maintenance, customer service, equipment management, fueling, and administrative duties. Matthew has enjoyed observing how the port is important for economic growth, national security, infrastructure development, and global competitiveness. His favorite part of the position has been learning how to service and operate the TICO jockey trucks.
Matthew received his internship offer from a connection made within his fraternity here at Mercer. Because of this, his advice to students seeking internships in the future would be to "make as many connections as possible while you are at school, and apply to internship positions as soon as they open instead of waiting until later in the year."
Meet Hannah Brassell, BBA Marketing '24!
Hannah will be pursuing a career in digital marketing. The biggest thing Hannah will miss about Mercer is the community, but she is very excited for this next chapter after graduation! Congratulations Hannah! 🧡🐻
Meet Lindy Kanaday, BBA Finance with a Minor in Management '24!
She will soon move to Charlotte, NC to begin work as a Strategy and Management Analyst at Bank of America. Congratulations Lindy! 🧡🐻
Colin Ralph participated in this year's Mercer on Mission trip to Rwanda.
His favorite part of the trip was meeting the children at the school, and partaking in a dance class and fashion show that brought both Americans and Rwandans closer together.
Colin said the most important thing he learned from the Rwandan people was forgiveness. He said "Rwandans are the most forgiving people and despite all the struggles they've been through, they move on together so they can be stronger. That's admirable. In the United States, people can get upset with each other over little things (myself included). Connections are the most important thing people have, so we should all learn from the Rwandans and forgive each other so that we may remain connected."
His advice to anyone interested in a Mercer on Mission trip in the future would be to "fear nothing, try everything. I was really scared about going on my trip but my professors cared for us like we were their own children and planned everything for us. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and the more things you try, the more you embrace yourself in the culture. You find that you have no regrets but you did everything and loved every second of it."

Meet Sophie Denisar, BBA Marketing and Management '24!
Sophie is currently the Marketing Coordinator at Stratford Academy in Macon. She believes the most useful class she took at Mercer was Event Management with Professor Krista Massey.
Sophie encourages current students to take advantage of all of the amazing opportunities Mercer offers. One of her favorite Mercer memories is going on the Mercer on Mission trip to Rwanda last summer!
Amareaya Bell had a wonderful time immersing herself in the academic and cultural aspects of Mercer on Mission's trip to South Africa.
Amareaya stated that "going to South Africa was an amazing experience that allowed me to appreciate a new space, culture, and traditions. I loved being able to help Streetscapes by applying my knowledge to their needs. Furthermore, I loved being surrounded by people who looked like me. It made me feel like I was apart of the majority in society and it felt WONDERFUL. The people were amazing and beautiful. The food was delicious, and the scenery felt like a painting 24/7."
