Together with families, support groups, donors, government agencies and foundations, we are strengthening the community through advocacy at the local and state level.
Four months ago, the Marcus Crisis Prevention Program (MCPP) set out on a journey to train Georgia’s largest school district, Gwinnett County Public Schools, on their crisis prevention system.
Fast forward to today, the program trained 145 educators and leaders that are now equipped to develop and train crisis prevention teams in their schools, creating a safer and more positive learning environment.

Our caregivers heard from a panel of community groups, family members and self-advocates in the autism community, participated in wellness activities and connected with other families who share similar experiences.

After Aadi was diagnosed with autism at 18 months old, his parents knew they needed to find an inclusive preschool program that understood his needs. That's when they discovered the Marcus Autism Center's Louise and Brett Samsky Preschool. With the support of his teachers, Aadi learned how to verbalize his needs and engage with his classmates.
Fast forward to today, Aadi's parents are so grateful for all the support and information the preschool program has provided. Aadi is excited to put his well-honed social skills to work as he starts kindergarten this fall.
Earlier this month, leaders from the Louise and Brett Samsky Preschool led a training at the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. The training focused on identifying early signs of autism in the classroom and best practices for implementing activities where children with and without autism can learn together in an inclusive environment.

We are incredibly proud of our very own Dr. Warren Jones, Director of Research at the Marcus Autism Center, and his team for their EarliPoint Evaluation tool, which was awarded a silver prize in the 2024 Edison Awards Health, Medical & Biotech category. The EarliPoint Evaluation tool is the first-of-its-kind advancement that helps clinicians diagnose and assess autism for children ages 16 to 30 months of age. As a registered behavior technician, Ayanna works closely with children with autism. She works with each of her patients one-on-one to help develop strong relationships that will create a positive, lasting impact.

Garret was referred to a teacher who had been trained through the Marcus Autism Center School Consultation Program and was able to create an environment that was safe and welcoming. Our School Consultation Program provides consultation, training, and professional development for school systems to effectively serve students with educational needs and behavioral challenges, especially those diagnosed with autism and related disorders.
It didn't take long for Garrett's family to see his transformation as he began thriving both at school and at home.

Our Louise and Brett Samsky Preschool at Marcus Autism Center recently hosted its second annual Open House for current and prospective families in the community. Families were invited to mix and mingle, while the kiddos explored sensory play stations, face painting and story time with the Theatre for the Very Young from the Alliance Theatre.
