A weak upper-level disturbance will bring isolated showers and thunderstorms to mainly the trails west of I-75 today, and mainly this afternoon. Otherwise, expect dry conditions through the middle of next week. We will see a few more days of pleasant temperatures for August along with lower humidities. However, the heat and humidity will return next week with temperatures rising into the mid 90s for the first half of next week.

High pressure will be building into the MTB Atlanta area over the next few days bringing cooler temperatures and lower humidities. A weak system will move across the area Wednesday night and Thursday bringing a chance of an afternoon shower on Thursday. Otherwise, it will be dry through Sunday.

A weak trough of low pressure will remain nearly stationary across the MTB Atlanta area through Friday. This will bring isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly north of I-20. A cold front will move across the area this weekend bringing higher chances of showers and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. The cold front will move south of the area Monday with high pressure building into north Georgia. This will bring dry conditions for early next week.

Due to the hit-and-miss nature of the thunderstorms, a few trail systems could be closed throughout the next 7 days. However, widespread trail closures are not anticipated except where indicated by a "Mud" marking.

The week will start out dry, then as we get to the latter half of the week and into the weekend, we will see the chances of thunderstorms increase, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours.

There could be an isolated shower or thunderstorm this afternoon, mainly east of Atlanta and in the mountains. Otherwise, expect dry conditions through the weekend. We get back into our typical summer-time afternoon and evening scattered showers and thunderstorms early next week.

Hurricane Debby has made landfall and will weaken to a Tropical Storm as she moves northeast into southeast Georgia through Tuesday. A few outer bands from Debby could move into the MTB Atlanta area this afternoon, and over the eastern parts of the area Tuesday afternoon. For the rest of the week and into the weekend we will see mostly dry conditions with cooler air spreading into the area Thursday and continuing into the weekend.

Due to the hit-and-miss nature of the thunderstorms, a few trail systems could be closed throughout the next 7 days. However, widespread trail closures are not anticipated except where indicated by a "Mud" marking.

TRAIL UPDATE from the North Georgia Mountain Bike Association. A huge storm passed over the area early this week wreaking havoc on the trails.

A group of awesome volunteers have been hard at work clearing the trails after some major tree damage.

- P3 still has 4 large trees down but is passable.
- P2 is FULLY CLEARED thanks to a group of dedicated folks today.
- Bear Creek from the bottom, the first 1.25 miles has been cleared.

We have groups going out to Bear Creek and P1 but we could still use some extra hands.

..AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX 100-105 TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY...
We are back in our typical summer-time scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. A weak frontal system will move across the area Saturday bringing scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures in the low to mid 90s will push the heat index into the 100-105 degree range each afternoon into the weekend.

A ridge of high pressure in the upper atmosphere will build into the MTB Atlanta area through Friday. This will push a lot of the deep Gulf moisture out of the area. The result will be a decrease in thunderstorm activity each day through Friday, ie it will not be as widespread as what we saw yesterday. The moisture will return for the weekend bringing a higher chance of showers and thunderstorms to the area, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours.

Due to the hit-and-miss nature of the thunderstorms, a few trail systems could be closed throughout the next 7 days. However, widespread trail closures are not anticipated except where indicated by a "Mud" marking.
