Emory's Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library (MARBL) holds collections that go far beyond books– for example, holdings relating to cultural and art movements. MARBL holds a collection of the papers and photography of Jack Stewart, an Atlanta-born artist, trained architect, and lifelong academic who in the 1970s documented New York City subway graffiti. Moonlight Gala 2024
Last weekend the Emory Asian Student Organization (ASO) celebrated the lunar new year with the Moonlight Gala. Various groups of performers across campus came together to put on a great show for the audience, ranging from traditional cultural dances to contemporary hip-hop dances. Performances combined with delicious food, student group info tables, and awesome raffle prizes were a memorable night for both ASO and the Emory community! the Ellmann Lecture Return
Those who appreciate literature's ability to move, challenge and delight readers have some place important to be — the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts — from March 3-5. The Richard Ellmann Lectures in Modern Literature resume with the arrival of poet Natasha Trethewey and writer Fintan O'Toole. Their lectures will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Nobel Prize–winner Seamus Heaney, the inaugural Ellmann Lecturer, by deepening the love of words both spoken and written. ➡ Feature story: https://links.emory.edu/R6

Oxford College’s Tarbutton Leadership and Kabir Fellows spent last summer working in communities at home and abroad exploring interests ranging from medicine and education to mental health research — all as part of the Oxford Center for Pathways and Purpose. ➡️ Feature story: https://links.emory.edu/QM Rising second-year students selected as Tarbutton Leadership Fellows receive support for meaningful summer experiences to develop their areas of interest. The 2023 fellows were: Savannah Brown, Emiliano Lara, Sara Larson, and Elena Vallis. Students selected as Kabir Fellows receive support for internships focusing on education, youth development, and/or working with under-resourced communities. The 2023 winners were: Rachel Kroger, Doreen Okeh, and Jean Qian.

19th Century Beach Reads: Yellowbacks
Beginning in the mid-1800s, yellowbacks emerged as a cheap, portable form of entertain. "Imagine 'beach reads,' but 'train ride reads'," explains Lolita Rowe, former community outreach archivist Emory's Rose Library.
