1 in 9 Neighbors in Our Service Area are Food Insecure
The reality is 1 in 9 neighbors in our service area are experiencing food insecurity. With rising costs and expiring federal aids, our community's needs are increasing. Those who are facing hunger are at risk of developing chronic health issues and other complications. In the last year, the Food Bank distributed an unprecedented 10.6 million pounds of the food each month. “For us it feels like an emergency, but I don’t hear the fire sirens wailing,” says Kyle Waide, President and CEO. Understanding this helps us emphasize the importance of recognizing and addressing food insecurity in our communities.
