✨Our Annual Report for 2023 has arrived, and WHOA! What a year✨ "Reflecting on the journey of 2023, one phrase resonates profoundly: “Preparation before Acceleration.” It was a year akin to stretching a rubber band to its fullest extent, poised to unleash its energy, or the quiet hum of engines before a rocket propels into the sky. Every moment was dedicated to strategic groundwork, paving the way for a season of extraordinary productivity and growth in 2024-2025." - Christi Gordy, Founder That growth she mentioned represents our Building Brave Capital Campaign to fund the expansion of our campus in Kenya to include high school services and double our student population. This campaign is the largest building project we've ever taken on and its launch is extremely timely in order to meet the growing need for high school classes for our students. You can read more about Building Brave in this year's annual report. To see the full report, comment REPORT below. We'll send you the link straight to your DM inbox!
Here’s what’s happening at Canopy Life to ensure our current 7th grade students can stay on the Canopy Life campus through their high school years: We are BUILDING BRAVE. We are building a safe home for our students - where they can continue to learn in a safe environment, knowing without question that their mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being matters. There’s a growing need at Canopy Life for our current 7th grade students to remain at Canopy Life through their high school years (because what we are doing is working!) and we want to meet that need. We see the many barriers to a quality education (and a safe place to call home) students face in Kenya. Imagine the day when there are 200 students on our campus...200 students who don’t have to worry about their safety. That’s our vision for the future of Canopy Life, and it’s not too far away... Our immediate goal is to double our student population. The thing about boarding schools is that our academic AND residential buildings must grow simultaneously in order to accommodate this growth. We are adding 2 residential buildings, an academic facility, a soccer field, and renovating some of our current spaces. It’s a $1.48 Million dollar project (and we’re getting closer to meeting that goal -we’ve $289k left to go)! To help us build this safe home for our students, comment BRAVE below and we’ll send you more info on how you can give and help us build a brave and better future for our students.
Help us build a BRAVE future for our students
There's a growing need at Canopy Life for our current 7th grade students to remain at Canopy Life through their high school years (because what we are doing is working!) and we want to meet that need. This is the largest project we've ever taken on, and we need your help to cross the finish line. Whether you can give $5 or $50,000, every penny helps build a brave and better future for our students.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 a child knows they matter? That their opinion matters? What happens whey they feel safe? When they know they are loved because a counselor takes the time to walk beside them while they are going through a hard season? This sweet young lady is about to graduate high school. She wants to start a business to pay for her college education so she can become a news anchor and a voice for those who are oppressed in Kenya. Consistent 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 turns into 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 around them. Sarah's story is already a powerful one because she knows she matters. If you believe a child deserves to know -without a doubt - that they matter...that their spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being matters, will you help us step into a new season at Canopy Life? We want to 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and have the capacity to 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, right on the Canopy Life campus. To do this we need to 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝟭.𝟰𝟴 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 (only $292k left to go) so that we can 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝟮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀, 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 to accommodate the growing population of students and staff members. We're Building Brave!
It might surprise you to learn that 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟱𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹. Many families in these communities lack resources for basic needs and school fees. Young ladies are often vulnerable to harm as they travel to school, and unfortunately sometimes even at the high schools they attend...
Years ago we dreamed of having a safe environment 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙫𝙪𝙡𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙆𝙚𝙣𝙮𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡 𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨. This dream became Canopy Life Academy. We have watched an idea become a real, living, breathing space in Kenya where children are thriving!
While our 4th-9th grade students are educated on-property by Canopy Life faculty, our high school students (10th-12th) attend local private schools. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹.
❓But WHAT IF our current 7th grade students could continue high school on OUR campus, rather than attending other high schools in the area?
❓WHAT IF we could provide a safe HOME & SCHOOL for EVEN MORE students to grow into godly, innovative leaders?
𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲. We’re stepping into this season bravely, and we’re counting on your support to make this vision happen.

We are Building!
We can't afford NOT to step bravely into the largest project we've ever taken on at Canopy Life. We see the 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 that exist for children in Kenya. We recognize the 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 on the Canopy Life campus (because what we're doing is WORKING), and we want to meet that need. Currently, the high school students within our program attend classes at local private boarding schools... This is not ideal.
So, we want to double our student population and have the capacity to 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, right on the Canopy Life campus.
To do this 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝟭.𝟰𝟴 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 $𝟯𝟱𝟬𝗸 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼) so that we can build 2 new residential homes, a new classroom facility, and a few other renovations to accommodate the growing population of students and staff members.
Whether you can give $5 or $50,000, every penny helps build a brave and better future for our students.
There are a few ways you can give:
1. Make a one-time donation.
2. Give now & Pledge to give next year ($500 this year, $500 next).
3. Sign up to give a monthly recurring gift (A $25/month gift = $450 over the next 18 months).

We've watched a Dream become a Reality
If we could go back in time, we’d tell ourselves “You won’t BELIEVE what’s about to happen!” Our campus has grown in many ways over the last 9 years. Our students continue to amaze us. They’re innovative, kind, and incredibly bright.
Not every step of this journey has been easy. Some of those steps have been REALLY HARD. Every step has been worth it, because...
We are committed to a future where Kenyan children become godly innovators who lead their communities out of poverty. We’re holding out for the day when Canopy Life students step back into their rural communities with the skills, knowledge, and hearts after Jesus to create jobs and impact real, lasting change for those around them.
Call us stubbornly hopeful, but we believe that beauty, belonging, and innovation can change the world. If you believe that, too, Follow @canopylife and join us in watching God work through these students to become agents of change throughout Kenya.
Exciting things are ahead!
Here’s how our students are celebrating Easter in Kenya! Happy Resurrection Day to our friends and family all over the world! #heisrisenindeed #eastersunday
Thoughts on Community - Aketch Joy Winnie Repost
“This is where community is built. Community involves sacrifice and people intentionally coming together to meet one another in places like the borehole.”
We love this moment from @aketchjoywinnie.
And why are we sharing this thought?
➡️Because we believe Beauty, BELONGING, and Innovation can change the world, and we are committed to a future where Kenyan children become godly innovators who lead their communities out of poverty.
@aketchjoywinnie captures this sentiment beautifully. The essence of belonging lies in sacrifice and intentional connections -
IMAGINE the transformative potential as our students internalize this value, emerging as servant-leaders in their communities!
🇰🇪There’s a bright future ahead🇰🇪
Add these to your knowledge bank! The next time you find yourself in deep conversation about Africa (or maybe some awkward silence😉), impress your friends and fam with these fun facts! The term East Africa is most often used to reference Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania (in the English language, historically due to colonial territories and the Omani Empire), but in other languages "East Africa" can also include the Horn of Africa (comprised of Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia and Djibouti; and can include even more countries in broader definitions). Let's go further... The Eastern Region of Africa (as specified by the U.N. Statistics Division Scheme) includes even more countries! We thought, why not learn about those countries, too?! 💙LIKE this post if you learned something new! Sisters, you were made for this.

We are celebrating International Women's Day 2024 by highlighting the strength, innovation, wisdom, resilience, and beauty that make up the women (and the girls who will follow in their footsteps) of Canopy Life International. Thank you for serving and loving those around you so well!
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:13-16

“…I knew my life had changed, and my journey to change my community and surroundings had begun.” Brian, Canopy Life’s first high school graduate While we celebrate this moment, it’s a pivotal part of our broader vision... Each milestone takes us one step closer to seeing our students step back into their communities as innovative & godly agents of transformation… Leaders who can create solutions to problems…Entrepreneurs who can start businesses, creating jobs for those around them…. Innovators who will end the cycle of poverty. The future of Kenya is looking bright!
Canopy Life exists to empower kids in Kenya to become godly & innovative leaders and entrepreneurs… -Not just for themselves, but for THEIR COMMUNITIES- We see a day when these students can solve problems, start businesses and create solutions that lead others out of poverty. At the heart of this vision is Jesus. Our desire is to glorify Him and to see these students love God with their whole hearts. It’s only from THAT place that they can truly love and serve those around them. Through a holistic approach, we empower them with skills that will transform the spiritual, social and economic systems in Kenya… Our students are dreaming big dreams of giving back to their rural communities. They are dreaming of becoming CEOS, teachers, artists, doctors…who will, no doubt, bring lasting impact to Kenya. We can’t wait to watch them do just that.
