Local 479 is made up of motion picture professionals working together to obtain guaranteed minimum working conditions, to maintain health insurance coverage for themselves and their families, and to protect themselves against employers who may take advantage of employees. Local 479 is not a "hiring hall", which means that each member must work diligently to obtain each motion picture job. However,

BREAKING NEWS 🚨After a long last 48-hours, we are PROUD to report that ALL Hollywood Basic Crafts Locals have reached a tentative agreement with the AMPTP late this evening.

The basic crafts spent today working closely with our member-led negotiating committees to finalize a deal with the AMPTP that we can now say is being unanimously recommended by our member-led bargaining committees.

This week, a majority members who participated in the ratification vote for the 2024-2027 Area Standards Agreement approved a new 3 year contract with employers, ensuring that we will have trained professionals ready to crew new projects coming into our jurisdiction. This contract provides significant new wage gains, benefit increases, and penalties to discourage long hours.

IATSE Local 479 remains dedicated to the principles of trade unionism and the representation of every worker employed in our crafts, based on the IATSE’s long history of pursuing fair wages and working conditions for its members.

THE ASA RATIFICATION VOTING DEADLINE IS TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT and we STILL have members who HAVE NOT EXCERCISED THEIR VOTE. If you have already voted, please TALK TO THE MEMBERS IN YOUR CIRCLE and make sure that THEY have voted. Regardless of HOW members vote, we need for EVERYONE to participate in this IMPORTANT decision.

THIS SUNDAY WEDNESDAY JULY 14th an electronic ballot for the new Area Standards Agreement will be sent to eligible members of IATSE. The ballot will be sent to each member's email address on file. TODAY!!!! --> Local 479 will be holding a TOWN HALL to discuss the recently announced Tentative Agreement with the studios. Members check your email for details about this meeting. You can attend IN PERSON or can pre-register to join via ZOOM. There will be plenty to discuss and you will be able to talk directly to our negotiations team and to one of the lead negotiators from the International. 🚨 BREAKING: IATSE REACHES TENTATIVE AGREEMENT ON AREA STANDARDS WITH HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS.

Members and signatories will have the opportunity to review the agreement in the form of a Detailed Summary in the days to come, followed by a Memorandum of Agreement (M.O.A.) at a later date.

With deals on both the Basic and ASA, ~70,000 film and tv workers will soon get to vote on whether to ratify their new contracts in mid-July.

BREAKING NEWS: IATSE, AMPTP Jointly Announce Tentative Agreement for Hollywood Basic Agreement and Videotape Agreement

LOS ANGELES — The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) announced a tentative agreement on all issues for the Hollywood Basic Agreement and Videotape Agreement negotiations.

The tentative agreement is now pending ratification by the unions’ membership. Members and signatories will have the opportunity to review the agreement in the form of a Detailed Summary 2-3 days following this announcement, as well as a Memorandum of Agreement (M.O.A.) an estimated 2 weeks following this announcement.

The parties now look forward to closing negotiations for the Area Standards Agreement.

One week ago, Local 479’s DEI Committee launched its first community event, HEALTH IS WEALTH, a health fair targeting industry workers in need of free medical screening and health support services.

Planning for this event took place over the past several months, working in partnership with the Fulton County Board of Health Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

Many thanks to all who made this happen, and to those who came down to receive services!
