February marks the observance of Black History Month, a significant occasion to celebrate the achievements and contributions of African Americans throughout history. Black Americans have made significant contributions to American culture and society from civil rights leaders to artists, writers, scientists, and inventors. Black History Month offers a unique opportunity to learn about and reflect upon these contributions and to continue working towards a more equitable and just future for all.

The Collaborative expresses our heartfelt condolences to the King family on the loss of Dexter Scott King. We recognize his steadfast dedication to continuing his father's legacy by advocating for and empowering the Black community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Special thanks to the members of the Fulton County Sheriff's Department who volunteered to serve on Saturday at the Atlanta Mission.

We are thrilled to have partnered with Ebenezer Baptist Church to make a meaningful impact on MLK Day at the Atlanta Mission. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. famously stated, "the highest human virtue is compassionately serving others," and we are honored to continue his legacy by performing selfless acts of service. Through this partnership, we were able to provide meals to the homeless and make a difference in the lives of those around us. We firmly believe that each and every one of us has the power to create positive change in the world.

On this day, we pay homage to the legacy and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His commitment to fighting for racial equality, justice, and peace significantly contributed to the world as we now know it and the progression of society. When you work with someone for years, you tend to think you know all their skills. I am grateful that Theresa White, Program Coordinator for our Atlanta Housing Training Program, keeps taking her leadership to new heights. Our organization benefits from her business acumen, acute attention to detail, and creativity that makes heads spin. Thank you for all you do and for making us look great. As Executive Director, it is an honor to serve alongside you!

In our line of work, as social change agents, passion is an imperative key to our success. Our Health Navigator Supervisor, Alicia Saunders, approaches our work in health equity and health access with passion and vigor. With her leadership, we oversee 10 local churches, bringing critical testing to help underserved communities connect to healthcare, identify social determinants of health, and provide resources to help them enjoy healthier lives. Thank you, Alicia, for the amazing community impact!

Leadership is exemplified in many ways. Keonna Chambers, our BSW student intern from Georgia State University, proves this with her unique way of adding value to our team. She listens and makes thoughtful suggestions to our program leaders. She utilizes her educational training and work experience to provide insight on how we can connect with new organizations and is always willing to lend a hand no matter the project. Thank you, Keonna, for showing leadership, regardless of title. You are an example for us all.
