On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their liberation, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation and two months after the Confederate surrender. Today, on , we celebrate the liberation, resilience, and cultural achievements of Black Americans, who have made innumerable contributions to the agricultural history of the United States and shaped its legacy. Join our friends at the Farmers Market Coalition () on Instagram in uplifting the community building efforts made by Black leaders and learn more about the power of partnerships by giving them a follow as they continue to share initiatives throughout the week 💚

Our Juneteenth campaign celebrates the value of partnership and it is a collaboration between Farmers Market Coalition and SageD Consulting (we delivered the Anti-Racist Farmers Market Toolkit previously).

Each day, we’ll highlight initiatives connected to a larger commitment to community. As you acknowledge the significance of the Black experience in the United States, we encourage you to recognize the contributions made by Black leaders and Black-led organizations in your own neighborhoods. We Connect Georgia Food to Georgia Families

Georgia Organics is a member supported, non-profit organization connecting organic food from Georgia farms to Georgia families. We believe food should be community-based, not commodity-based.

An outgrowth of a grower’s association established in the 1970s, Georgia Organics is devoted to promoting sustainable foods and local farms in Georgia.

A sustainable local food system is critical to the future of Georgia’s health, environment, and economy.

Recognizing this vital need, Georgia Organics builds supply through grower education and outreach, and grows demand on the consumer and business end by encouraging market opportunities for local food. We have three key goals:
