Did you know that women live longer than men? In fact, the National Center for Health Statistics found that at age 65, for every 100 American women there are only 77 men. By age 85, there are 2.6 women for every 1 man.
But, why? While some of the longevity gap can be attributed to biological factors, much of this gap is attributed to the fact that men just don't get medical attention as quickly or frequently as women do, particularly preventative care.
So don't "man up", speak up! Talk to your healthcare provider. Get regular physicals and share your health concerns with your doctor. Make healthy lifestyle choices and close the longevity gap!

May might be ALS Awareness Month, but the fight for a cure from this terrifying disease never stops.
ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS is always fatal. As voluntary muscle action deteriorates, people with ALS lose the ability to speak, eat, move and eventually breathe - all the while the person's brain continues to function and they remain fully aware of themselves and their surroundings.
There is no cure for ALS...yet. To learn more about what you can do to join the fight against ALS, visit als.org
