In June, we celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month, dedicating this time to affirming the vast identities that create our strong and diverse district. During this month, we focus on the importance of creating space for our scholars, staff, and community to show up as their authentic selves. Scholars feel most empowered to do their best learning when they are comfortable being themselves. Our district emphasizes maintaining safe and welcoming environments that cultivate sense of belonging throughout our schools. We are proud to share LGBTQ+ resources, contributions made by LGBTQ+ individuals, and progress made for equal rights and acceptance in our community and the world.

As a friendly reminder, since we haven’t had any snow days yet this school year, May 24 will be a no school day as scheduled. Also, in observance of Memorial Day there will be no school, and the Educational Service Center (ESC) will be closed to the public, on Monday, May 27, 2024. School and district operations will resume Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, FWPS leadership will engage with the community at our annual Community Connect event, which will be held at 6 p.m. at Federal Way High School. At this event, we’ll share information about work we’re doing to support students and engage in conversation with FWPS families, students, and community members about their visions for our students, and what we need to do now to ensure every scholar is ready for success after high school.

Please join us for our Heritage Festival, this Thursday, April 18th from 5:30-7:30!

You and your family are invited to come Share and Celebrate the rich heritage of the Meredith Hill Community this Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 at Meredith Hill. We’ll have games, heritage booths, food trucks, performances, a Henna Station, and an auction full of fun items and experiences. If you have Heritage attire that you can wear, we would love to have you participate in the fashion show. Just sign up at the check-in table when you arrive so we know that you want to be a part of that fun.
