⚠️ Tuesday 5:00 AM Weather Update ⚠️
We will have essentially 2 waves of weather today.
1. The rain that is falling now is the first round, and associated with a warm front lifting across the area.
Some very good news with the morning rain is that it is actually allowing the atmosphere to stabilize a bit. Plus, as of now, there are no active watches or warnings in the state.
2. Round two arrives later this morning. There are currently storms developing in southwest Alabama. Although these aren’t trending severe right now, as they progress east, and with temps warming up we will need to still keep an eye on a few storms briefly becoming severe in our area later today. These storms are associated with the cold front that will be swinging through.
What you need to know:
🔸It will be a soggy start to your day in Auburn. Grab the rain gear ☔️
🔸The timeline of strong to severe storms has shifted to 10am-2pm for Auburn (a little later than originally forecasts)
🔸We will have some bursts of wind today. It will be breezy at times. Gusts could be around 40+ mph
🔸Although atmospheric conditions are improving, we still can’t completely rule out a brief tornado later this morning into the afternoon
Stay safe!
⚠️ New information regarding Tuesday weather ⚠️
Threats for tornadoes are shifting south, but that doesn’t mean Auburn is in the clear. New information moves the slight risk (that’s a risk level 2 of 5) south of Auburn, but breezy conditions will develop through the day tomorrow.
A line of showers and storms begins moving into the area near sun rise and will continue through early afternoon.
We are still in a marginal risk (1 of 5) for Auburn which means we can’t rule out strong winds and brief downpours.
Stay close to a good source of weather information as you start your day tomorrow.
⚠️ Important weather updates for those on or near campus tomorrow ⚠️
Tomorrow, Tuesday November 21, from 5am-2pm a line of strong thunderstorms will move through the area. The biggest concern will be gradient wind that has the potential to topple power lines and trees.
There is the possibility these storms could produce:
🔸Strong winds up to 60mph
🔸A Brief Tornado
🔸Isolated downpours
Because these storms will occur early in the day, we want to make sure everyone is aware of our shelter locations tonight.
Should a TORNADO WATCH be issued, Greene Hall and Draughon Library will be opened for the duration of the TORNADO WATCH.
An AU ALERT will be activated ONLY if a TORNADO WARNING is issued for the Auburn main campus.
Tonight’schecklist:
1. Secure outdoor holiday decorations
2. Have a way to get warnings if you are asleep during this time period.
3. Make sure your phone alerts are turned ON
4. Power up batteries on phones and devices
5. Know where your safe place is now, should you need to go there tomorrow.
Thank you to Auburn Athletics for serving us a wonderful Thanksgiving Meal today.
It is an honor to serve this campus and community. We are grateful to all the wonderful first responders who help keep Auburn University safe.

Stay safe and happy thanksgiving break!
Auburn's Security Shuttle, that operates between 6pm - 7am, is on pace to give over 100,000 rides this calendar year.
In just 1 week, our Security Shuttle fleet has totaled over 4,000 miles and given almost 3,000 rides.
Putting that in perspective...The total mileage is roughly the same distance as it is from Auburn, AL to Los Angels, CA and back!! 😳
Here's a timeline of events for tomorrow's game against New Mexico State! War Eagle🦅

It is simulation day in our R.A.D. (R**e Agression Defense) Class.
R.A.D. is a comprehensive women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance. Then, they progress onto the basics of hands-on defense training.
Approximately 180 women gather each week, divided into 6 classes that meet in the Student ACT building.
Auburn’s R.A.D. program involves three hours of classroom lecture and nine hours of physical techniques.
It concludes with simulation training, where instructors equipped with padded suits “attack” the students. (Instructors are pictured below)
Students, who are also wearing protective gear, defend themselves using various methods they’ve learned, such as ground defense, striking motions, wrist grabs, choke holds and knee strikes. The students are taught to rely on physical strategy–not individual strength–to target the vulnerable areas of the attacker.
Here at Auburn, we want to educate others to become more aware of the people and situations around them. We want to equip and empower our female students to take action.

Auburn University Campus Safety is strengthening our collaboration with key community stakeholders this week.
The University is safer when we have a whole community approach to crisis management. We analyze the mission of prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery.
As we round out Clery Compliance Awareness Week, we want to thank everyone for their continued involvement to keep Auburn safe. In Campus Safety, we are fortunate to have Susan McCallister, “Clery Compliance Officer of the Year,” and her team that help make sure our crime reporting process is transparent.

This week is Cleary Compliance Awareness Week:
Mosty of us may have never heard the term "Clery Crime" or "Clery Act" or "Clery Compliance" before...and in large part, it's not a widely advertised document, however, it is an integral part of how we record and report crimes on campus.
So what is the Clery Act:
The Clery Act, as stated by the Clery Center, serves three main purposes:
1. It requires colleges and universities to report campus crime data, 2. Support must be provided to victims of violence.
3. The Act publicly outlines the policies and procedures that have been put into place to improve campus safety.
The goal of the Clery Act is to provide transparency around campus crime policy and statistics.
Crime data includes:
Criminal Offenses
Hate Crimes
Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) offenses
Arrests and Referrals for Disciplinary Action.
These data are referred to as Clery Crimes.
Clery Crimes are those that not only occur on campus property, but they may occur within these geographic areas as well:
Student housing
Public property within campus bounds
Public property immediately adjacent to the campus
Non-campus buildings and property owned or controlled by the organization that are used for educational purposes
Buildings frequently used by students but not a part of the core campus.
For a detailed look at our Clery Geography: https://auburn.edu/administration/campus-safety/clery.php
By law, whenever a Clery crime occurs, police and public safety must maintain a daily crime log and this crime log must be made available to the public daily.
That report can be found here: https://auburn.edu/administration/campus-safety/crime_log.php
Our goal in Campus Safety is to help educate and inform the Auburn Family to our best practices as it relates to your safety. Please let us know how we may best serve you.
Compliance Awareness Week
It's Clery Compliance Awareness Week. Learn the story of Jeanne Clery.
In 1986, r***d and murdered in her own dorm room, Jeanne Clery was a freshman at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. On April 5th, 1986, Josoph M. Henry, who was also a student, gained access to Clery’s room through a propped open door.
Henry is serving out his sentence at State Correctional Institution in Dallas, Texas.
Upon Clery’s death, her parents, Connie and Howard, learned that Lehigh had a “rapidly escalating crime rate, which they didn’t tell anybody about.” They concluded that, had they known about the crime rates, they never would have sent their daughter to school there. After a 4 year journey new legislation passed in 1990, enacting the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. More commonly known as the “Clery Act”.
The Cleary Act requires colleges and universities to report campus crime data the goal of the Clery Act is to provide transparency around campus crime policy and statistics.
By law, whenever a clery crime occurs, police and public safety must maintain a daily crime log and this crime log must be made available to the public during daily.
