Our journey of creating a fallow deer farm in south central Kansasđ»The Deer Wife blog at BRCdeer.com
How do you start your day?
This is better than a cup of coffee for me! 55 degrees at 7:30am. My last week of morning bottle feeding but we are starting a new routine of tossing goodies (today it was corn) to the whole herd. Bottle babies make the best camouflage.
I hope yâall are having a great Monday!
Our fallow deer finally earned a paycheck.
Buck Delivery... Lots of money has left, itâs time to bring some of it back! #fallowdeer #deerfarmer Itâs time for us to deliver a deer! Weâve spent a lot of money building the business, and itâs time to bring in someIncome! We started BRC Fallow Deer in the...
Can you guess which fawn will be white like its mother?
We have a couple that guessed correctly!
C is our buck fawn that is âwhiteâ
White fallow fawns are born a butterscotch or sandy color and will turn increasing white as they age.
Some boys have dogsâŠ..
Fawning season 2024 is complete! đ
Our last 4 fawns are out of our cover buck Sitting Bull. 4 sweet bright spotted doe fawns. 3 of these girls dropped in July but #413 waited until August. They are the perfect additions to our herd.
We had a great time at the Missouri Deer Association picnic today. It was a beautiful day to look at deer and zebras! As well as catch up with friends and make some new ones. Thank you Blossierâs for hosting.
We also stopped by AB Whitetails on the way home. Thank you Karla and Mike for letting us stop by for a farm tour & Dinner. Yâall have a sweet little bottle buck.
Sorry bud, you canât hide anywhere with a paddle like that above your head. Paddle isnât the right wordâŠpizza stone? Barrel lid?
Cool to look at, and great table fare! Fits that carnivore diet you should be on.
The star of this Deer Fact Friday is the fallow deer!
Did you know that due to their flattened antlers and short yet strong legs, the fallow deer was once prized as an ornamental species?

Rhett: âwhy is our 2 year old buck so much bigger than the 3 year olds, when they all eat the same thing?â
Brendan: âBecause heâs got great genetics, kinda like you, sonâ

Do you like snakes đ or do you think we need to burn đ„ the farm to the ground??
This wasnât there when I hung out the barn towels after morning feed. Snake skins give me the creepsâŠ. Especially when they are over 5 foot long.
HUGE SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU to Jennifer Swenson Forstrom for taking care of our bottle babies while we went on vacation to Colorado. This was no small feat caring for 4 babies for 5 days but she ROCKED it!
In an attempt to make her job a little easier I prepped and labeled all the bottles for her ahead of time.
Thanks Cathy Zirger , Daniel Zirger Beth Helmerichs and Bryant Helmerichs for saving pop bottles for us.

#4! Doe fawn out of All In! Great pedigree to bring to our place.
As it turns out our first 4 fawns are from 4 different bucks, and Sola Fe Ranch/NT Ranchâs âLadyâ appears in 4 places in total in their pedigrees. That canât be a bad thing.
