Whooping cough, or pertussis, is a highly contagious respiratory disease. If left untreated, it can last several weeks and spread to many other people. The best way to prevent whooping cough is to stay up to date on vaccinations. Wash your hands frequently, stay home if you are sick as much as possible. • Whooping sound with cough
• Vomiting after a coughing fit
• Cough for more than 2 weeks
