The PW Purpose
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves
to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
to support the mission of the church worldwide,
to work for justice and peace,
and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.

In the Bleak Midwinter
We begin our Advent devotional today. It is early so that we can use all the material that the authors of this devotion have created for us. This is VERY different from other "digital" devotions. May these fill your advent with prayers, music, art and reflections/devotions that bring you peace, joy, hope and love. May you be inspired to draw deeper into God's Advent, Christmas birth and Epiphany revelation to the world.

From Carol McKay who attended the Symposium-- I took Workshop No. 1 and was really glad I chose it, even though the others looked so interesting and were taught by pastors I care for a lot. I mentioned in our workshop a list of resources that our Youth Director Kim Ness had shared with our congregation as well as her group. It is a very thorough list, some of which she gleaned from the PCUSA Matthew 25 website and to which she added other resources. I am including the link for the master webpage from which one can access the resources for Systemic Poverty and Structural Racism. My hope is that you will consider sharing it with all who attended.
www.fpcathenspit.com - Matthew 25 In January 2021, the session of First Presbyterian Church of Athens discerned God’s call to join our church with siblings in Presbyterian congregations and agencies across the nation in the Matthew 25 initiative.
