In honor of C-section Awareness month, I want to acknowledge every momma that has experienced a C-section in order to deliver your baby. We see you and can't be more proud of you.

My first was a C-section and the journey of healing, standing up straight again, to feeling prickly needles in my skin, to feeling afraid that my body failed me, to wonder if it would happen again or will I achieve a VBAC. Ohh and let's go deep, my mental health.

Today God has allowed me to stand beside mothers who experience C-section for various of reasons. I am able to extend Grace and Care for them and for that I am extremely grateful.

Happy World Doula Week to all the amazing doula's that I have an opportunity to share this platform with.

Doula's- I salute you for the commitment you give, the sacrifice you make notice or unnoticed. The spaces we share. You understand the assignment and change starts with one birth at a time. It's Friday, let me introduce myself to some and reintroduce myself to others. My name is Daneita and I am a certified birth and postpartum doula.

I know Daneita the Doula it rhymes right just like Bonita, Applebum, I'm about to put you on from a Tribe called Quest 😂 I digress!

If you asked me if I saw myself here today, in this role, doing what I am doing. Chile listen no way!!!!

A doula, me a doula, first, let's be clear most people don't even know what a doula is 🤷

But after 7+ years in the game, a doula was and is who I have become. I understand the assignment and my purpose in it.

Educating, empowering, advocating and supporting families is simply my vibe. Hey and I have a few folks that would say that I do it well 😉 (to God be the glory)

The reality is we need a village, a village to love us, support us, and encourage us through the transitions.

Hello 2024... Happy New Year 🎊

2023, I was the doula to 32 amazing families again....

Omg, how, listen, nobody but God, and the support of my community.

We also add 9 new families for Postpartum Support

We have an amazing Postpartum Support Group and we had some amazing adventures.

From our Paint N Sip, to our BBQ on the beach 🏖️ we bonded as families and created new memories.

To the amazing doulas on the rise, changing the narrative is not easy and oftentimes requires collaboration, that's why we are "Doula United" 💕

All I can say is stay tuned, we are on a verge of a horizon like no other. The calendar is filling up ☺️

Now to all my pregnant uterus and those brewing a miracle/s. Look into hiring a doula, whether birth or postpartum it is necessary!

A doula is an important part of the team, especially in world of medical disparities.

I am part of a whole world of amazing doula.

Wednesday's Truth.....Help is not a sign or weakness, bearing through it to prove you are strong is risky, and believing others hype just because they didn't experience it or have a doula is foolishness. Let's change the narrative and prioritize our births and postpartum journeys!!!!

4th Trimester aka Postpartum

Let's begin to normalize that there are 3 Trimesters in pregnancy but there is this thing called the 4th Trimester that many fail to prepare for or think is non-existent.

Every parent and their newborn baby will experience it.
I mean "Every" for those in the back. And yours may not look like mine.

Postpartum includes physical, mental and emotional change as your baby adjusts to being outside the womb, and you "adjust" to life as a parent.

As we prepare for pregnancy, birth and arrival of the baby let's not forego or overlook our needs and expectations of postpartum.

Do not, I repeat, Do not, gatekeep your experience or knowledge of the impact that a doula (birth, postpartum, etc) has made in your life.

Tell the world, share it everywhere, tell your friend(s), make sure they know about your journey.

Let's start a movement and crush societal norms and encourage any pregnant person, TTC, adopting, etc we know to add a doula (in whatever capacity necessary) to their journey.

There is something unique, personal, special, okay maybe words can't really describe it. But I got some witnesses who can, Can I get an Amen?

Okay, listen having a doula should be a whole experience. The doula work is not just in the delivery room.

Okay let me say it again, the doula work is not just in the delivery room. Yes it is a significant part, but please Don't forget the preparation leading to your delivery day. The meeting(s) where we discover and talk about your needs, wants, and concerns. The tears that you shed in joy and some in fear of can I do this, will everything be alright? The texts, of random body parts or things coming out of your body (is this a mucus plug 🤔). The affirmations, the gifts, the baby gear, baby showers and the list goes on.

But wait what about the postpartum, because yep we do that too. We are making meals, or making meals trains. Reminding you to rest, take your vitamins, nourish your body in every way. Helping you to remember what day it is when you can't even remember when I am coming. Or just simply saying "sat down", I know you feel good but baby "sat down".

My point is simply this, enjoy the experience, sign up for the experience, pay for your own experience, be present in the experience, appreciate each phase of the journey. Because why, having a doula is what, a whole "experience".
