Badlands"

This abstract collage features two kinds of hand embellished paper - faux leather paper, and, for lack of a better term, "squiggle" paper made with polymer medium. There is also a piece of lose weave burlap.

I like the neutral palette of this piece and the interesting textures.

This painting can be hung either framed or unframed in a vertical presentation (as shown) or a horizontal presentation.

"Jurassic Shale”

This geologic abstract has intricate color blends of sage green, soft yellow-green, gray-violet, olive green, turquoise, burnt orange, blue-gray, and golden brown. An ammonite stencil was for a raised pattern.

The actual paints I used were Golden fluid acrylics: Turquoise Phthalo, Van D**e Brown, Permanent Violet, Transparent Red Oxide, Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold, Green Gold, Raw Sienna, Paynes Gray, Dioxazine Purple, and Titanium White.

It is wired to hang as a vertical or horizontal presentation.

I did this triptych several years ago. There is clear resin over the stones, so they look like they’re underwater. Arroyo, mixed media on canvas, 48 x 36” Sold.

This mixed media abstract is part of a series I'm doing with no preset expectations. I'm using paint and mixed media papers for an intuitive painting experience. This is what artists, particularly abstract artist, do when they are experimenting and letting things flow and develop on their own. Some experiments are winners, others not so much! I like this one. It's ready to frame in a standard 12x12 frame.

There is a lot of texture on this surface because the painting is a redo of a collage. I feel it lends depth and interesting texture to the finished piece.

This is another in my geologic abstract series. I don't often feature green in my work, but I like how all these green shades turned out. I used an ammonite stencil and fiber paste for the ammonite forms.
