Since the pandemic, we’ve read a lot about our heroic medical practitioners and the current challenges of their work. This weekend, I had the privilege of meeting some extraordinary female members of this exceptional tribe ✨ Seeing them strutting in my shoes has been the highlight of my month. - Lucy Price

Yesterday I wore this green suit to open up the conference. I felt powerful in it, I felt confident in it, & I paired it with my new fav alternative energy heels. I LOVE a brightly colored suit😍

A women at the hotel not attending the conference stopped me on my way back to my hotel room after my morning session. She told me she loved the suit it was super cute but she could never pull it off. She asked me where I wore it. I told her I wore it to give a talk and open up the conference this morning. She said oh my gosh I could never do that! This is a summary of my response:

“This is my conference, I organize it. This conference is full of amazing women physicians, who are all here because they are tired, exhausted, and work in a system that in general does not support women. By and large they are here because they do not hear messages that say they can be exactly who they are, they can show up as women. They are told they cannot wear things like this on stages. They are told they are too much. They are told they are too quiet or too loud or not enough brave or too brave.

I wanted to wear this suit and if there was one place I could wear it on the stage it is here. So I am wearing the suit / for all women.”

She hugged me.

We do not let others define us. We find the courage to define ourselves and we go forward.
