McKinney En Plein Air 2024 will kick off at The Cove on Friday evening with an exhibition of plein air paintings done by the competition artists during the past year, and a Quick Draw contest. On Saturday, over 35 artists will be painting en plein air around the Historic Downtown Square and in nearby McKinney parks. The event ends back at The Cove with the famous "Exhibition on Easels" show and sale, artists' reception, and awards ceremony. Judging the art this year is Milessa Murphy, accomplished, award-winning artist. The public is invited to attend the events on both Friday evening and Saturday.

GREETINGS MCKINNEY PLEINAIRIANS!

Rain or shine. On Saturday, September 7 at 9:00 a.m., we will meet at the Thuong Hanh Buddhist Monastery in McKinney. Come join us to paint in this lovely Zen setting where the core philosophy is happiness, along with peace, compassion, and kindness.

After we paint, we will have an Art Sale/Swap from the trunks of our cars in the parking lot. Look for my green Subaru Outback with NPLEINR plates and park nearby.

Plan to come out for the Walk in the Park: Fall Edition put on by the Collin County Master Gardners from 9 AM until NOON on September 21 to Myers Park even if you did not sign up to paint.

October will be here before you know it and MPAS will be hosting the 3rd annual McKinney En Plein Air Competition. Thirty five artists are participating and will vie for the prizes to be awarded by our amazing Awards Judge, Milessa Murphy Stewart. It's going to be such a fun event. Don't miss it.

Highlights from today's Paintout. Pleinair Painting Town Lake Park McKinney

GREETINGS MCKINNEY PLEINAIRIANS!

On Saturday, August 3 at 8:00 a.m., we will meet at Towne Lake in McKinney. Come join us.

Find a spot to paint around the lake, preferably in the shade. Look for other plein air painters -- you'll know them by their easels and friendly faces.

At noon, meet up at the UN(I)QUE sculpture for some fun photos, brown bag lunch and art chat.

Mark your calendars to paint out on September 21. We will have a second chance to paint at beautiful Myers Park for the Walk in the Park: Fall Edition.

Congratulations to the winners for the Spring Fever online contest! The entries were incredible and the voting was close. It's inspiring to see the different locations, both local and from travels, through the eyes of each artist.

For our next paint out on the first Saturday in July, we will be in search of a hidden, and with luck, not elusive waterfall at the Limestone Quarry Park along Rowlette Creek in Frisco. I hope you will join us.

GREETINGS MCKINNEY PLEINAIRIANS!

Live Art 2 Live Music (LA2LM) is this Saturday at the new Tupps Brewery. It's a great opportunity to paint with other artists who are not part of our usual plein air group. Painting to live music in the family friendly atmosphere at Tupps is sure to be a good time.

Artists will create live as Quantum Katz (3pm) and Russ Hewitt (5pm) perform a diverse mix of genres on acoustic instruments. Inspiring the artists, the music will be an eclectic fusion of Jazz, Bluegrass, Blues, Irish, Rock, Spanish, Flamenco, Latin, Cuban and more. The highly improvisational interplay between the musicians leads to a creative atmosphere. The goal is to put the “Muse” back in Music. Come create with us.

Where are the artists supposed to be? Anywhere you can hear the music (!), but we really want to fill the Live Music Lawn in front of the Outdoor Stage adjacent to the Beer Hall. If you need to be inside, paint in the Beer Hall --- the stage backs into the Beer Hall. (Go to TuppsBrewery.com for a layout of their new campus.)
