We're always chatting about on this page, so maybe we should take a second to reintroduce you to our friends. Breakaway Records is a vinyl-focused haven, curating an eclectic mix of sounds from the 1920s to the 2020s (so now), with a special emphasis on the music of the '50s, '60s, and '70s. For decades, they've been shepherding Austinites in their journey to vinyl divinity, offering thousands of LPs, 45s, and cassettes spanning genres like Soul, R&B, Rock, Garage, Psych, Punk, Jazz, Blues, and more. Their passion for sonic quality doesn't stop at records—they also offer vintage stereo equipment, including turntables, receivers, cassette decks, and speakers, alongside new turntables and a range of accessories like needles, cartridges, belts, and cleaning kits.
And it's one of our fine friends from Breakaway Records behind the decks nightly. Come take a listen.

"Whether it's 1971 or 2024, and whether you’re 15 or 65, SABBATH RULES." --Josh LaRue, .
OMAKASE VINYL returns at Equipment Room this Sunday, May 26 with "Master of Reality" and "Vol 4." by Black Sabbath, hosted by Josh and our friends . And according to Josh (and anyone with ears), the founders of metal deserve that kind of reverence:
"Black Sabbath’s influence cannot be overstated. Countless bands and musicians owe a great debt to the band. They influenced their peers, and their impact on later generations is huge. Punk, Metal (of all varieties), Grunge, and most "heavy" music from the '70s onward all have direct ties to what Sabbath created. Many punk musicians and fans who rejected the '70s Classic Rock style, sound, and attitude, still loved Sabbath. They were weirdos and outliers, their music was cool and heavy, and it spoke to a very wide audience."
Join the flock and listen to Black Sabbath with us this weekend. Tickets at the link in our bio.
